Gun Appreciation Day Sat 19th Jan 2013.

Just in case you didn't know, tomorrow, Saturday 19th January 2013 is the first National Gun Appreciation Day, with people still mouring the loss of their loved ones from a number of recent shootings some might say this is in, well, 'bad taste', some will say they have every right to show their support for the second amendment, both are in my view decent arguements.

It wasn't something I was aware of until I spotted a post on my Facebook page from CBS news asking if anyone knew of any local meetings, meetings which will apparently be happening all over the US tomorrow.

The website is encoraging all gun owners & supporters of the second amendment to come out tomorrow, to go to their local gun stores & show how proud they are to be a gun owner & at the same time show their disdain for Obama.

Here's the link to the website: http://gunappreciationday.com/

If it includes free shooting lessons and firearm training, then it sounds cool. Otherwise, I don't see why I would need to go to a gun shop to show my support for the second amendment.

Since before 1950, every single public massacre in the US where 3 or more people were killed had one thing in common.

They all occurred in areas where guns were banned.  Without exception.

Guns don't kill.  Short-sighted gun laws kill.  People forget that the Founding Fathers lived through some horrible times.  They didn't just make random rules.

In Switzerland, every family is required to own and maintain firearms.  Not just any firearms.  Military grade fully-automatic firearms.  It'e nearly impossible for a violent criminal to get away with anything there.  Guess how many violent crimes took place in Switzerland in the past 30-50 years.

I'm actually glad that Obama signed this heavy ammunition ban into law and major background checks. The problem is, what states are going to enforce these laws? I love guns by the way

Why do we need a Gun Appreciation Day anyway?

I like less threatening days like Valentines Day Smiley Happy
