What's that thing called that allow you to use Themes and extensions thats not compatible with the new version of firefox?

All I know is that you get extenstions and themes from here.
I don't think a "thing that allows you to get extensions and themes" exists, why would there be an allowance/disallowance?
Unless you want to download the new version here.
