Ebooks or Hard Copies?

9 replies 163 views Edited Sep 8, 2013

When it comes to books, comic, and video games.

Which way do you prefer to get them, digital or retail hard copies, and why?

Physical everything. If my e-reader or console breaks, I am at the mercy of a network. And I also must charge an e-reader.

Hard copy/physical. Digital is really only an option for me as far as video games go but for reading material (novels/comics), I much prefer having the book to hold. My mom has tried to sell me on maybe getting an e-Reader but I told her I prefer having the actual thing to read.

I prefer hard copy on the majority of things.  I like actually having a physical copy of the item and being able to loan it to friends.  Having a game disc tends to take up less space than the download version.  I will consider digital copies of video games, comics, and books in certain situations.  For example, if steam or psn have a sale on an item that would cost me full retail.  For example buying Tomb Raider for PS3 for $30 on versus paying $60 physical.  Comics I prefer having physical copies, but if it's one that I will not be able to find such as certain series Injustice, Batman '66, and so on I will buy digital.  Also if it's an older book or one that many stores don't carry I will buy digital.  Overall physical wins in my case.

"Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Everything hard copy for me. I like to have a library of books, games, music, movies and such to go through. I really hope digital is NOT the future, and it sucks that some games are digital only (in which case I have no choice but to go digital), but I am 42 so maybe I won't be alive when the digital only age happens (IF it happens, but all signs are pointing to it happening *sighs and hangs head in shame*).

Hard copies, I want to have physical possession of the software and stories I have to pay to play and read Smiley Wink.
