Chemestry Help!

27 replies 1 views Edited Dec 13, 2006
Hey, I have a chemestry test today, and I'm a little confused.

Okay, say we take barium chloride, which is composed of Ba(barium), and choloride (Cl-) This becomes BaCL2 to forum barium choloride, but where does that two come from? How could come when you have Silver(Ag) and Nitrate(NO3-) you get AgNO3 but the 3 is given.

Chlorine is one of those elements that's understood as being Cl2. Sorry, I forget what it's called, but the same thing goes with Oxygen, Iodine, and other elements like that.

BaCl2+2AgNO3---> 2AgCl + Ba (NO3)2        ---- its a double displacement
