ps3 does not have better graphics then 8800GTX sli, so i have no idea what you are talking about, this also depends on how the companies code their games to make it look as it does.

How? Paper specs, the 8800GTX SLI beats the RSX used in the ps3.

8800GTX is a whole another ball park then the 7900 and 7800 Series, the actual architecture was modify to make it compabilte with DX10 which was built from ground up.

The PS3's GPU is called the RSX (The RSX Graphics Processing Unit is a graphics chip design co-developed by NVIDIA and Sony for the PS3) Specs are as followed..

  • Transistor count of 300.2 milllion transistors
  • Clocked at 500 MHz
  • 128-bit DDR memory interface
  • Multi-way programmable parallel floating point shader pipelines
  • 136 shader operations per clock. It should be noted that the RSX will contain only 8 ROPs as opposed to the G70 which contains 16 ROPs.

What all this boils down to is that the console with the best GPU... is actually the Xbox360, why? The Xbox 360 GPU has more processing power than the PS3's. In addition, its innovated features contribute to overall rendering performance. But its only better than the PS3 by a tiny fraction


Altho the PS3 makes up for this with its Cell Branded Engine. Cell's claimed advantage is on streaming floating point work which is done on its seven DSP processors.

It's a race.  One gets better, then the other does too.  PC is easier to upgrade.  Usually PC is ahead but not necessarily.
