  • Concerts (indoor or out, whatever you both or she or he likes)

  • Outdoor Festivals - especially the kinds that will be flourishing soon, Autumn, Harvest types of town festivals

  • Haunted House - lots of areas have these starting in October

  • October Fest (find one in a great German quaint town for the best of that!)

You know to be honest, I was coming in here to actually say this.

Maybe it's just me, but I would far rather be alone in a relaxed atmosphere, feet up in front of a movie with a takeaway.

No interuptions, plenty of time to chat.

Re: Best places for a date?

I can't tell by your handle if you're a guy trying to date a girl or a girl trying to date a guy.  It can make a difference.

If you don't have anyplace awesome to take that special someone, bring them back to your place.  Make sure you clean up, of course.  And then cook something yourself for the date.  A lot of guys can't cook, and lately there are a surprising number of girls who can't cook.  Everyone should know how to cook something.  Learn to cook.  Take classes if you have to.  Get some decent cookware.

Then a movie is usually a good bet.  Again, a little planning could be helpful.  It wouldn't hurt to have a nice home theater.  You could put one together for a few hundred dollars if you know what you're doing and you don't fall for that Bose satellite/cube speaker system scam.  Those things sound like crap, but they look great.  And they cost more than a real home theater you put together yourself.  There's really no substitute for a free-standing floor speaker.

You also want to offer some good dessert.  If it's something you can buy at the grocery store, then they can just get it themselves.  But if it's something you made, you now have a monopoly on that dessert.  So they have to keep coming back to you to get any.  This can be a powerful motivator.
