Anyone use a sound bar?

4 replies 161 views Edited Aug 21, 2013

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me help with my setup. I have a 40 inch Toshiba LED TV (1080p, 120hz). I have a Wii hooked up via Component cables (480p) , and a N64 via RCA. I have my PS3 on HDMI, and another HDMI for a cable to connect my Macbook. Over time I want to buy a Apple TV and a Wii U. I use the Sony PS3 Bluray remote. It works great with my TV and PS3. I am looking to get a soundbar for the room. The audio quality on the PS3 and Wii sound decent enough, but not so great hooking up my Mac. Any suggestions on Soundbars? Also, are any Sony soundbars compatible with my PS3 remote? I want to remain under $150, either used or new.

Suggestions on sound bars yes.. Stay away from Philips. My experience with Sony’s has been good. However it matters more about how you connect it than who made. All will sound the same connected analog. The real differences will come when you connect them digital either Coax or TOS.

I have not found (as of this writing) any sound bar that uses the PS3 remote. My Sony sound bar does not respond to either of the PS3 remotes I have.

Hope this helps

I bought the cheap Visio soundbar at walmart a couple months ago and I'm digging it. Think it was right around $150, subwoofer that comes with it is wireless, has every different type of input jack, it sounds better than the $600 system i had for years that quit working before i got it, and i can even turn the bluetooth on on my iphone and stream music directly to it.

Best $150 i have spent in years.
