Weed is widely known as a "Gateway drug". That is a fact.

As is alcohol.

Why do you think there's an extra tax on tobacco products and alcohol? To discourage people from buying it.

As for coffee, coffee is considered a stimulant because of the caffeine. It makes your heart rate goes up, and wakes you up.

LOL taxes are not meant to scare people away from the cigarettes and alcohol.

so what about taxes on food do they tax food so we stop eating?

i dont want to start discussing taxes with you

and even so if your claim would be true, people STILL buy alcohol because its their choice

i dont see the whole country being drunk and driving drunk etc. the whole country doesnt drink alcohol just cause its legal. drinkers will drink those who dont wont.

"someone who hasnt tried weed isnt gona try it just cause its legal"

If you believe that, you're insane.

"and even if more people do start smoking weed so what"

I've already explained this.

"if someone wana try it they will try it no matter what legal or not"

No, there is a fair share of law abiding citizens that would more than likely try it if it was made legal.

"LOL you think if you dont smoke and it becomes legal will you start smoking"

No, I won't.

So because I don't support weed I support Alcohol? Okay. Talk about assumptions.

I didn't say Alcohol wasn't a Gatway either, it's actually more damaging for your health than weed. I don't support either of them.

I didn't say "taxes scare people away". I said "the extra tax is MEANT to DISCOURAGE people from buying alcohol and/or tobacco products".

Facepalm at the food tax part.

Sagan was a user and advocate of marijuana. Under the pseudonym "Mr. X", he contributed an essay about smoking cannabis to the 1971 book Marihuana Reconsidered.[65][66] The essay explained that marijuana use had helped to inspire some of Sagan's works and enhance sensual and intellectual experiences. After Sagan's death, his friend Lester Grinspoon disclosed this information to Sagan's biographer, Keay Davidson. The publishing of the biography, Carl Sagan: A Life, in 1999 brought media attention to this aspect of Sagan's life.[67][68][69] Not long after his death, widow Ann Druyan had gone on to preside over the board of directors of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), a non-profit organization dedicated to reforming cannabis laws.
