People have forgotten the true meaning of thanksgiving. It is about giving thanks to Jesus and God for our daily food and being a goodSamaritan .

I gotta say I differ in opinion on how TG probably transpired 4 hundred years ago compared to how we are told it happened but I definitely agree with you that the principles of things like TG, Xmas and Easter are totally lost on people these days.

I volunteered at a foodbank in my local church today. I am not religious and its not thanksgiving here, but giving thanks takes many forms. Celebrate in the way that feels right to you.

It was Abraham Lincoln who created thanksgiving on the 3rd Thursday of November. He did this to federlize the holiday. Several states celebrated it on different dates. But you better remember he did this in 1863 at the height of the civil war. Brother against brother to retain the union and to end the institution of slavery in this country. Whereas Lincoln was a very religious man. Thanking God for that war is kind of acrimonious don't you think?
