Overview
,
,
Ninja Gaiden Sigma is not a port, but a remake of the Ninja Gaiden series that's exclusive to the PLAYSTATION®3 console. It will take advantage of the PS3's cell processor, Blu-ray technology, and utilize online functions with the PlayStation®Network.
,
,
Ninja Gaiden contains no story elements from the original trilogy apart from minor references and recurring characters that play very similar roles to those of the original trilogy. This essentially makes it a reboot of the Ninja Gaiden "universe", although the story could be placed either before or after the events of the original trilogy. However, the game's creator Tomonobu Itagaki commented in an interview that "Since this is a brand-new game, I prefer not to be influenced by or base it on the original story".
,
,
The story revolves around the Dark Dragon Blade, which was sealed away and protected by warriors of the Dragon Lineage. Their descendants formed the Hayabusa ninja clan, and Ryu Hayabusa was one of them. The blade is stolen, and Ryu must recover it.
,
,
Ryu Hayabusa and Rachel will both be playable characters. The game will feature new functions, weapons, spells, combos, and three new levels. The game and demo have been confirmed to run natively at 1080p / 60 fps.

A demo has been confirmed from Team Ninja to be coming April 27th on the Japanese PS Store. It will feature a special level that won't be included in the final game.
,
Tecmo's PS3 update to the original Ninja Gaiden isn't due out in America and Japan until June, but those wanting a sneak peak will have to wait less than a month. In the latest issue of Japan's Famitsu Weekly, Ninja Gaiden Sigma director Yosuke Hayashi revealed plans to make a playable demo of the game available on the PlayStation Network starting 4/27. The demo will include one specially created chapter that won't be in the final version and will allow players to use a large number of weapons from the start.
The big question is, of course, will owners of PS3s outside of Japan be able to get quick access to the demo through the US and European PlayStation Stores? While Tecmo hasn't made an official announcement, Hayashi did reveal that the demo will include an online score rank mode that will allow players from throughout the world show off their ninja skills. Sounds like PS3 owners everywhere have something to look forward to late next month. - IGN

Ninja Gaiden to silence PS3 critics, says Team Ninja
,
,
Yosuke Hayashi, producer and director of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, has stated that Ninja Gaiden Sigma will put down the critics around the PlayStation 3.
Hayashi stated that games for multiple formats cannot focus on one machine's specific capabilities, which perhaps refers to the slightly terrible Splinter Cell: Double Agent port. Ninja Gaiden Sigma had to be the best action game it could be, and that's why it was made on the PlayStation 3. -

Ninja Gaiden Sigma First Day Sales
,
,
A severe lack of content has plagued the system for months now, and only now does it look like the software is finally beginning to roll and it kicks off with the launch of Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Released this past Wednesday in Japan, for its first day of sales Ninja Gaiden Sigma managed to sell 20k copies. With another six days remaining, I'd estimate first week sales of 40-45k for the game. -

500,000 copies sold worldwide, Downloadable Content coming September 6th
,
,
Tecmo, in a press release, announced that its first Playstation 3 title Ninja Gaiden Sigma has a total of more or less 500,000 copies in circulation worldwide. This is really good news for the company considering the game's been out for only a few months.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma actually first appeared on the original Xbox as Ninja Gaiden Black back in 2004. A lot of changes have been implemented by Tecmo in this next-gen iteration, such as improved graphics, enemy specifications like AI and damage, as well as the addition of a new playable character, Rachel.
It was announced recently that downloadable content packs will be made available soon at the PlayStation Store collectively known as "Survival Mode". The first one of which will be be released in North America on September 6 and later this month in Japan. It will be priced for 315 Yen or roughly around US$ 3. - QJ.net ,
The demo is now available in the both the US and Japan PS Stores.
