Overview
,Ninja Gaiden Sigma is not a port, but a remake of the Ninja Gaiden series that's exclusive to the PLAYSTATION®3 console. It will take advantage of the PS3's cell processor, Blu-ray technology, and utilize online functions with the PlayStation®Network.
,Ninja Gaiden contains no story elements from the original trilogy apart from minor references and recurring characters that play very similar roles to those of the original trilogy. This essentially makes it a reboot of the Ninja Gaiden "universe", although the story could be placed either before or after the events of the original trilogy. However, the game's creator Tomonobu Itagaki commented in an interview that "Since this is a brand-new game, I prefer not to be influenced by or base it on the original story".
,The story revolves around the Dark Dragon Blade, which was sealed away and protected by warriors of the Dragon Lineage. Their descendants formed the Hayabusa ninja clan, and Ryu Hayabusa was one of them. The blade is stolen, and Ryu must recover it.
,Ryu Hayabusa and Rachel will both be playable characters. The game will feature new functions, weapons, spells, combos, and three new levels. The game and demo have been confirmed to run natively at 1080p / 60 fps.

,Ryu Hayabusa
,Ryu is the protagonist of Ninja Gaiden. He is known as the Solidary Super Ninja. Ryu is a descendant of the Dragon lineage and young member of the Hayabusa Ninja clan, whose duty is to uphold peace and battle evil. His father, Ken Hayabusa, is the leader of the clan, and has entrusted Ryu with the Dragon Sword, an ancient sword that has been passed down through generations of clan leaders.
,Rachel
,Rachel is a Vigoorian Fiend Hunter, her main objective is to find her lost sister. Rachel posesses genes that give her abnormal strength at the expense of making her susceptible to becoming a fiend. She can sense where fiends are. Rachel`s weapons are, a massive green War Hammer, a rapier, and rope. Rachel became a Fiend Hunter solely to kill fiends, but learns that Ryu's adventure just may lead her to what she seeks and more.
,Doku
,Doku is the main antagonist in Ninja Gaiden Sigma. He is the lord of the fiends and serves the holy Vigoor Emperor. He wields the ancient cursed sword, Kitetsu. Doku's body contains some sort of blue spirit energy, it can be seen seeping through his mask.
,Murai
,The leader of the Shadow Clan, a clan supposedly allied with that of the Hayabusa. While Ryu prepares for his vendetta, he informs Ryu of the identity of the invaders who are responsible for the attack on the Hayabusa Village.
,Ayane
,Ayane is a young female ninja. She is a subordinate and spy of Murai, and refers to Ryu Hayabusa as 'Master Ryu'. Throughout a major portion of Ryu's mission, Ayane assists him from the shadows, gathering information for him by the art of espionage.
,Alma
,Alma is Doku's main Fiend. She is under the "curse of the Fiend", turned into a powerful monster by Doku, the Lord of the Greater Fiends.
,Dark Disciple
,The Dark Disciple appears to be Gamov's leader. He has a black hat, mask and long robe and his voice is device-altered; hiding his true identity. His motive is to capture the Dark Dragon Blade, the blade's power increases as Ryu fights off his enemies. This is why he stalks Ryu without directly interfering.
,Gamov
,A spy agent with a green coat and hat and eyeglasses, Ryu meets him in Han's Bar. Throughout the game, he observes Ryu's battle with his enemies. He appears to know a lot about Rachel and the Dark Dragon Blade. In Ninja Gaiden Sigma, he is seen weilding dual pistols.
,Muramasa
,A great and well-renowed blacksmith, known for traveling all over the world to seek out weapons. He helps Ryu by strengthening his weapons, giving him health, Ki, projectile items and power ups in exchange of essences. He's a diehard Golden Scarab collector, trading all kinds of unique goodies in exchange for scarabs. He's an expert on weapons, and knows the secrets of the both Dragon Blades.
,Kureha
,She's one of the protectors of the Hayabusa Village, and has known Ryu very well since childhood. She wears a beautiful Dragon Eye jewel, a jewel said to be carved out from an eye of a dragon.
,Vigoor Emperor
,The head honcho, the Emperor of Vigoor Empire. He's responsible for sending Doku and his minions to steal the Dark Dragon Blade away from the Hayabusa Ninja Clan.

,A demo has been confirmed from Team Ninja to be coming April 27th on the Japanese PS Store. It will feature a special level that won't be included in the final game.
,Tecmo's PS3 update to the original Ninja Gaiden isn't due out in America and Japan until June, but those wanting a sneak peak will have to wait less than a month. In the latest issue of Japan's Famitsu Weekly, Ninja Gaiden Sigma director Yosuke Hayashi revealed plans to make a playable demo of the game available on the PlayStation Network starting 4/27. The demo will include one specially created chapter that won't be in the final version and will allow players to use a large number of weapons from the start.
The big question is, of course, will owners of PS3s outside of Japan be able to get quick access to the demo through the US and European PlayStation Stores? While Tecmo hasn't made an official announcement, Hayashi did reveal that the demo will include an online score rank mode that will allow players from throughout the world show off their ninja skills. Sounds like PS3 owners everywhere have something to look forward to late next month. - IGN

The game's apparently out to surprise even quick-witted fellows like us. We were expecting the demo of the game to come on the 27th. Instead, an article on PS3 Center says that it's out now, and we're excited to know it's there.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma First Day Sales
,A severe lack of content has plagued the system for months now, and only now does it look like the software is finally beginning to roll and it kicks off with the launch of Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Released this past Wednesday in Japan, for its first day of sales Ninja Gaiden Sigma managed to sell 20k copies. ,Tecmo announced the first expansion pack for Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a survival mode where you try to kill as many enemies as you can with limited health. The bonus content is not free; Tecmo has it priced for 315 yen ($3) in Japan. In September the second expansion pack comes out, which adds in a time attack and in October players will be able to try out the survival mode with Rachel and her new costume. The price for the other two expansion packs has not been announced, but they are likely to be sold at a similar price. - N4G

Either way, my plan of buying the original for my Xbox 360 so I can get used to the basics has gone down the drain as I'm now trading in my 360 for a PS3. Hopefully in time for the Sigma demo.
Right now, I'm really looking forward to Ninja Gaiden Sigma. It, along with Devil May Cry 4, will be my favorite titles this year, I can feel it!

I'll definitely consider that. My main concern is, most of the information reveals the story and major plots. For the most part, this will be the first time PS fans are playing the NG series, so I want it to be fresh and new to them.
,Sigma won't be too much more different in terms of the storyline. Playing as Rachel will reveal a bit more, as will the additional three levels.
