.....Wow. Phil Collins to never drum again. Oh, lord

Not because he quits, but because he literally can't.

lol at the mention of In the Air Tonight but this is truly a sad day.

Even though I'm a pretty anti-Phil Collins person... still sucks. He was a good drummer. I didn't like his solo stuff, or when he sang in Genesis (most of it anyway), but still.

Re: .....Wow. Phil Collins to never drum again. Oh, lord

Early Genesis and Brand X were the best showcases of his drumming. I don't like what he did to genesis in the slightest but he was a truly great drummer... Even early post-Gabriel era Genesis was still good with him

It's unfortunate to see this happen.

Re: .....Wow. Phil Collins to never drum again. Oh, lord

Collins did have some amazing solos all throughout his career - but I wasn't too fond of his drum-lines in most of his songs. They weren't exactly that inspiring. Given his era, though, I'd still put the performance of guys like Carl Palmer and obviously Neil Peart ahead of him. Even Keith Moon, but that's basically based off of style, not abilities.

In the end, it is really sad. I mean, what a negative turning point in his life. He can still sing, I suppose... so it isn't entirely too devastating, but to lose one of his most highlighting talents... Jeez! I'd hate to think that for one second I'd lose any of mine.

Give him a few years, I bet he could come back. He will get that fire burning and want to play.

Re: .....Wow. Phil Collins to never drum again. Oh, lord

Didn't they just do a reunion world tour last year?

Oh well. I liked Phil and all but come on, he's a 58 year old multi-multi-multi-millionaire.

If he never drums again, he'll manage just fine.
