You guessed it! This is a discussion about Hair Metal!
Some of you may not have been around back when this was a popular form of music and may only be familiar with current groups that take a tongue and cheek approach to the genre. Some of you may very well have been around at its peak! Some may hate it - others (like me!) may love it!
Guitar Heroes were abound in those days! To me... that's what made Hair Metal great!
You had (in no particular order):
- Vito Bratta from White Lion
- C. C. DeVille from Poison
- Slash from Guns n' Roses
- George Lynch from Dokken
- Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme
- Scotti Hill from Skid Row
- Dave "Snake" Sabo from Skid Row
- John Norum from Europe
- Reb Beach from Winger
- And so many more that I can't even think of right now!
So share your thoughts or just share your favorite hair metal song!
I'd love to hear from you!
Share the music with me by uploading a video or just give me the name of the artist/band and the song title!
I was a big fan of Def Leppard back then. I saw them back in 1982 before Rick Allen had the accident. Back then they opened for Billy Squier (remember him? No? This was a big hit for him...)
In 87 when they had their comeback I saw them again in Hartford, that was a good show. This was the big number.
Throughout the 80's I didn't stray very far from my power pop roots. The main stay for me throughout that era was Cheap Trick, and they still are to this day;
I don't think Guns and Roses are Hair Metal. I think they just got lumped in because they're from LA.
But if we are counting them, they would be my favorite by far, the rest of those bands suck/do nothing for me
