Rocksmith question

I had a Fender Squire and it worked fine on my amp. But when I hooked it up to my ps3 with Rocksmith, it all of the sudden had a short in it. I thought it must have just been the guitar, so I got the same guitar model from the same place (Guitar Center) the next day. Again, it worked fine on my amp but all of the sudden had a short in it once I hooked it up to Rocksmith. Could it be that Guitar Center just carries cheap guitars or something else?

Well yes guitar center does sell cheap guitars, but it is probably the cable.
