Re: Time Attack: What have you been working on?

Nov 8, 2011

My big levels are Mudslide, which is like .5 or .6, colossus, which is like 1 second, and scorched, which could also be low 1:21.

Scorched - Rally Car - 1:22.28

That beats my Plugger time haha, what?    Still more in it yet ... I wasn't smooth enough and literally made up the 3rd split. There will be improvements to be made there yet. I based my strategy on the simple fact that in races, the line and strategy I take always provided me with a guaranteed overtaking maneuvre in the 2nd split when I used the ATV line. I saw optimus had a 1:22 and was slamming the 2nd split long left-hander and knew I'd be able to get more out of it.

Wonder if a 1:21 is possible?

What have you improved optimus? Both of you are going to pass Wolves at this rate (only half a second to go for optimus)    3rd fastest overall would be a nice title    let's see it happen!

By the way optimus, do you think you understand most of Scorched Rig now? I don't want to write about the entire combo ... where in particular are you struggling?

I know the only split i struggle in is the 3rd. I know my first isn't good, but it's just getting lucky at the beginning that determines that, and most of the time i don't have the patience for a good 1st. but yes, 99/100 times my boost explosion doesn't "fly straight" at the end. Maybe I don't have enough speed but it sure seems like I do. It's almost as if you have to boost explode .01 after your back tires leave the ground to get any sort of decent explosion.

Yeah, the first split is the hardest for me too optimus. Chris is really the best at it. What I do is obviously try to hit that little part on the left at the beginning that puts your rig on its two right wheels and that makes it so you don't bounce around at all. that's probably where you're losing a substantial amount of time. My fastest 2nd is also a high 26. I think our 2nd's cannot be match as a good 2nd is usually at least a half second slower lol. so good job. I wouldn't recommend doing it in the Atlas Arizona either...just saying. You also want to utilize NEB in the first split as well because I remember in my record setting run my downhill was much smoother than Chris' but he immediately caught up using NEB which i really suck at most of the time. The good news is NEB is not actually critical in badlands but it helps a little. I guess more on a 2 lapper than anything.

Oh yeah, I got 1:21.75 or something on scorched a little bit ago. It didn't feel any better than my 1:22.00 but i guess i got a lucky explosion at the end. :/ really don't like the end.
