Wish I had of tried your slam method when I was doing TA on the edge. There is a memorial with my name on it, nailed to the that tree of death!

Oh my god, Chris! Not again! Haha
I haven't told my best splits so far I think... they're
21.51 (without slam - I have used it sometimes to avoid hitting the tree and still maintaining the speed though)
21.87
22.97
best 1st/2nd combination: 43.55 (21.51 + 22.04)
and I've had 9 times below 1:07.20 during my last sessions when I tried to beat tiky.

Sorry Kevin, I've chosen you haha. I'll leave Wayne, critter and Etnies alone for now because they've never really held #1s for too long, whereas you've had your fair share ... I'm quite enjoying Edge at the moment with these new tricks (and I'm still not respawning before starting a lap either, just regular reversing. I find respawning unnecessary if you just go right to the limit).
Anyway, might try it again between Uni work someday. You'll have to defend your favourite once more I'm afraid my friend
It sounds like we're driving it almost exactly the same way. It's just going to be whoever gets the luckiest run I think

Another Edge session, another improvement, but still no change in position, I cannot believe it!
1:06.96 - BlackWolves-666
1:06.97 - eb4tiky5ef79o
1:06.98 - Cirrus5005
Thought I'd make a lovely little list -iron- If you looked at my splits, you'd think I wasn't using any new tricks, as they resemble tiky's splits more than Kevin's. However, that 3rd split was achieved with a poor 2nd split (which used the Slam method), so a decent 3rd split is combinable with this new 2nd split method. To be honest, my 2nd and 3rd aren't great together ... I've just done my usual trick and blasted out a 21.61 in the 1st to make sure the other two are pretty much irrelevant
Kevin, I've joined you in so many times under 1:07.20 ... and my best 1st and 2nd combined come to 0.01 faster than yours according to critter (I left the maths up to him hehe). Your ghost's strongest part is from the very bottom of the downhill, across the boostless slope starting the 3rd split, and then your speed all the way up to the first R1 Slam. The only reason I beat your 3rd split in my new run was because of your wide final corner. Such a great run you've got, but there's got to be a ground-breaking time in the winds yet. One of us will get it (H)

If someone would like to explain to me the new "slam method" for the 2nd split, I would consider joining this crazy competition. haha. i mean, i am next in line.
EDIT: actually, i figured it out on my own. -proud
21.97 + 22.08 + 23.27 = 1:07.32
I'm quite pleased with that time. My 2nd and 3rd are personal bests I believe. I've ran 21.7 in the first prolly but w/e. It's not like that would give me 3rd place hahaha.

dawg, to get the 2nd split R1 Slam to work, it's best to pull a NEB handbrake (if you're familiar with those), because then the Slam is more effective and your speed stays higher. Did you figure that out yourself? I'm assuming you did, or you got a really great handbrake without releasing the accelerator ... how did you do it?
Additionally, if you're in need of a little help with the 1st split, I can show you my method which gives me fast starts fairly consistently. I do the same weight shifting / rocking technique every time and it seems to work well as long as you repeat it exactly the same way each time.

No, I don't believe I ever NEB break there. Just handbrake a little earlier I guess. Not sure how you do it but wolves seems to go as far right as humanly possible before the handbreak while staying perectly grounded before his downhill, while I try to maintain my speed by approaching the downhill with a much wider entry. My downhill speed is definitely faster, but I probably run out of boost sooner so both strategies perfected are probably very close. My main expertise this run was really turning my rig as hard as possible so I didn't slide too far before the downhill. My 22.08 is a fast 2nd in my opinion and may not actually be my faster split. But....NEB breaking may eliminate my need to turn my rig so hard. I'll give that a try soon.
EDIT: oh and to address ur 1st split statement, yeah I believe I understand how to do it as long as you're taking the same line as wolve's up to ur L1 slam. I'm adequete at the shifting weight thing, and I understand that a properly timed L1 slam will help you benefit from the NEB because of being grounded more, as opposed to wolve's normal save and let it loose after landing (while catching a little more hangtime). In all honesty, it's just hard to do it consistently for me.

I'm scared by you guys. Leave The Edge alone!
Well, I won't just sit here and watch you better your times and failing just SO slightly to beat me.

1:06.86. Weak 2nd split, rest was quite good: 21.69 - 22.12 - 23.05.
02-07-2012 06:27 PM
yikes, fast! lol. I'm down to 1:07.29.
I believe they were 21.94 - 22.06 - 23.30. You guys and your fast 1st and 3rd's!! lol. My downhill is always perfectly acceptable. Just the rest I throw away lol.
