Seriously guys: My post before (post 11 in this thread) got 180 views, there were 9 replies but no one kudoed my post. So it's that simple: No one really seems to be willing to pay for it. No one will be willing to host that game FOR FREE. Seems that the most of you have no idea who I am and that I've already brought a huge value for non-authorized 3rd party developers when it comes to the PSN (mostly with psnapi.org and psnapi.com). I would be able to push the 'keep MSPR Online alive' action further on but as long as no one is willing to pay for it I just can't see any reason for doing that.

If you are right, then it's just not worth to do anything and evo made the right deccission. That's what I tried to find out with that post. I was just a little bit confused that no one kudoed because there seems to be some who really cares about the online functionality. Let's see who else will get the message too.

It doesn't mean Sony made the right decision. People play the game still, and the Motorstorm series was one of their premier exclusives.
People aren't willing to pay because online gaming on PSN was always advertised as being for free. This is a big advantage over XBox Live. Anyway, I can't think of any other Playstation game where the online service was saved by players offering to pay for it, so I think most of us don't see that as a realistic possibility and don't want to waste effort on something that's most likely going to be met with a wall of corporate silence.
I have my doubts the server is all that expensive to keep running, they just don't want to spend any time on it... not even to fill the void until the next Motorstorm (assuming there is one.)

actually smrt, considering how big MSPR once was, the server isn't just any server, i don't know how it works for video games, but a big server for sure isn't cheap

I think it's important to see this decision for what it is- all good things come to an end, MSPR is dead and SONY/EVO are doing the humane task of putting it out of it's misery.
Rather than being disappointed, you should all be grateful that the game reached great heights some time back, provided you with countless hours of FREE entertainment and provided an opportunity to establish soooo many friendships.....and rivalries.
MSPR WAS A GREAT GAME for these reasons.
When MSA came out it certainly divided the MS community. I think that guys who have played both considerably will agree that the main difference is in the style of racing, you can race more cleanly/socially in MSPR, in MSA it is soooo much harder to pass cleanly and therefore maintain the social aspects of the game.
At the end of the day, both games are a bit of fun, a way of escaping the outside world for a couple of hours, therapy for many.
I for one will never forget the great days of MSPR, I enjoyed every minute and I'm sure you guys feel the same way.
Kind Regards,
Mark

it all was no problem if they had a good new game out there by then
...at least they should give us the time attack server back!!!
