Wow, a lot of energy was posted on this. To be honest, I have never been to the playstaion blogs before this and after posting it had not returned until today. It’s nice to see others are “jonesin” for some real racing as much as I am. I have truly enjoyed racing with all of you, whether you raced me as Dammit-I-Quit, Spin-Me-Out, Always-a-HERO, I-Drive-Shitty, U-Drive-Shitty, Im-Behind-U, U-R-Behind-Me, My64GTO, or whatever I was logged in as all those days/nights.
MS1 truly is the best racing experience I’ve found, but for different reasons that you all suggest. To me, MS1 not only has great graphics, action, controls, and such, but it has the “radar” bar on the left side of the screen. AT ALL TIMES you can see your position relative to other racers. You can tell if they are gaining, pulling away, whatever. I have also grown to love the catch-up feature. Obviously after quitting almost 7000 races, you all know I love to screw around. With catch-up, you can screw around all you want, yet still be capable of catching the pack. It is the side by side, and back and forth racing that makes it exciting. In MSPR or MSA, if you make a mistake it is too easy to fall so far behind that you finish the race running solo. Personally, I have no desire to run solo laps. That is why I can’t run Time Attack. My ONLY desire is to race online against other racers. I don’t play ANY of these games offline, and despite owning 2 dozen games, MS1 is the ONLY game I play.
To me the answer is simple and all too obvious. First the obvious, MS1 was the flagship game that launched the PS3, they simply can’t let that die. Not only did this game launch the PS3, but the game spawned an entire series. Now for the simple part; THEY NEED TO ALLOW RACERS TO RACE ALL TRACKS - WITH ALL VEHICLES, (How about a little Rockhopper with Big Rigs, or Mudpool with Rally Cars). You can do it in TA, so the functionality is already there. SECONDLY, THEY NEED TO OPEN ALL THE TRACKS TO ALL RACERS (i.e. give everyone the download tracks). Clearly they won’t be selling a lot of downloads for a game not supported online, so there should be no loss of income at this point. I truly believe these changes, along with a splash of marketing awareness would rocket this game back into popularity. They can market it as the “Re-launch of an Icon – Motorstorm returns”.
I think we need to collectively find a way to make some noise over this.
I just created a facebook page under the name “Motorstorm Lives On”, if you have a facebook account send a friend request. Spread the word to everyone you know and everyone they know.
Hopefully we can use it to show Sony that the following is too large to ignore. They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease, well, we need to start squeaking. I will pay more attention to this blog and seek any suggestions on how to get their attention. I will work on finding some contacts at Sony or for Motorstorm developers and share what I find on here and ask others to do the same. Dammit-I-Quit They need to bring this back. I really believe that I was only a few races away from being good enough to actually finish a race. :-)

you're right! Pacific Rift has way less racers than Monument Valley, no reason to learn that game. PR is a cheap version of Motorstorm anyway. The handling of the vehicles is brutal and that annoying croud noice wears me out!!! I tried and tried to turn that off.
The quality of Monument Valley is many times better than any of the other Motorstorms and any other racing game that I've tried, and I've tried a lot.
Sony shut down the one racing game that had the quality that was to be expected when PS3 came out. All the other racing games were disappointments, kinda like going back to the PS1 and PS2 games.
I have to give to Evolution on Monument Valley. That was one awesome racing game.

so anyway, how do you contact the fool who authorised the shutdown of MS1
is there any possibility to mail that idiot????

So not only do you want the servers back, but you want a patch to go with it? I'm sorry but there is a greater chance of Jeff Gordon being declared the best racing driver in the world than there being another MV patch.

Wow ... end of an era I guess .... what a shame!! Such an amazing game!!!
The funny thing is that I didn't even buy MSMV ... it came in the box included with my new PS3 back in 2009. Of course, I had no idea at the time that I would become so hooked on this little disc. It wasn’t until I joined in on some online races ... only then did motorstorm get me, hook, line, and sinker … so much fun, and what a great community too.
Befriending buckeye02 and Unmarked-Grave in the beginning ... lol, they couldn't stand one another, but both were my friends
Learning the tracks and racing lines with fellow rookie and new friend gorutossj5 .... of course we all know how good goru would get, going on to become the best monument valley stormer of all time (IMO), and me … well I would go on to become the best also ran
Feeling privileged to partake in soupclans marvellous SCTC events … trading paint with the likes of ebud, truck123, yotaholic, andrewm0304, and the axecutioner … watching in awe as just0325 would somehow manage to blaze his big rig around Grizz in sub 3:50 …. OMG, did he just do that?? Hahahaha
Getting hammered, trackblocked, and consistently beaten by chevelless1970, and getting so ****** off about it that I introduce “chev busta” to ambush, cheat, and trackblock him right back. Oh Yeah … take that CHEVY!!! How do you like dem apples? Lol, of course chevelle and I would go on to become good friends, and we still are . I think that speaks volumes about the nature of the motorstorm community. No grudges held, and that applies to everyone.
What can I say … to Blood, neb, andrew, and all valley stormers out there, it would appear that I’m going to miss more than just a great video game.
take care everone, it was a great run

Just another slowpoke!
Good post okay, I know the main reason I stayed in the valley were all the great friends I met over the years. I remember way back in mid 2008 meeting axe and ebud and learning how to run the tracks from them. I really hope Evo head back to strictly offroad with the next game, maybe another visit to the desert now that they've killed off the valley completely.
I'm as sad about the servers being shut down as any of you, but I'm sorry they aren't coming back no matter how much you bother Sony or Evo.
Good to see you around axe, hope everything is going well.

A few of you old timers that still visit this forum know who I am. MV was the first game I ever bought with the PS3 back in '07. For me, it was the greatest racing game ever created and was my introduction to online gaming and racing in particular. It really upsets me that Sony pulled the plug on this game but I suppose the low online participation was the deciding factor in the end. On that note Sony, I'd love to shove my PS3 up your rear end except but it's probably got year of life left in it. God bless to all the friends I met online. Man what a great ride it was.
One last thing...F--- you Sony!!!!!!!! (This will most likely get me banned from this forum but who cares anymore???)

Yeah, you are probable right. In the past year or so, I have been often winning my last race of the evening, but then pulling the powercord from the back of the PS3 before the win registers. :-)

You certainly paint a VERY bleak picture, with that Jeff Gordon reference. The way see it, what have I got to loose. The just killed the only game I like to play, so what better to do with my newly discovered free time than try get my addiction back. Again, while the efforts may be in vain, I would ask that you spread the word to other Motorstormers to add "Motorstorm Lives On" as a facebook friend. Once there, please post your thoughts to Sony on this game and I will do my best to find the correct audience at Sony and Evolution. Thanks all for the help. I DO believe that this can be accomplished.
