Other than that it looks absolutely wonderful.

Also, inb4 that bad guy was a young Decoy Octopus.

i dont mind the no on-screen HUD. when you have a pretty game, not having a HUD works. Naughty Dog knows that, and considering that Kojima Hearts ND, maybe he went with the no HUD approach?

the little hologram map thing looks like it will act like the sonar/radar. there could be a weapon wheel/menu system that is hidden when not in use, same for items. health and stamina bar is an issue though; i doubt there will be a "screen effects change when youre hurt but health will regenerate" system.

but like you said, they could have just removed the HUD to showcase the game. completely plausible, and i hope thats the case. i cant imagine a MGS with no HUD.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes - FOX Engine, Big Boss, Open World

Sorry guys, I had to go change my pants... twice...

AMAZING. Just... AMAZING.

Right when the trailer started and showed the barking dogs, before the men entered the camp, I glimpsed an Spanish poster in the fence saying "Lethal force will be deployed on intruders if necessary", so I figured it would be South/Central America the setting of the game. Finally it was Cuba... Hmm...

Yeah, the kid must be Chico, but I have to say I see less freckles on the kid. I'll refer him to Chico though XD. Why does he plug the earphones on his chest anyway? o.O. inb4 CYBORG XD.

The scar-tissue man... Aside from The Fury, who other character we know that his face must be heavily damage beyond repair?

And I like how they refer to XOF, a mirrored unit. And also what the hell with the ultraviolet light that erased the XOF label from the Chopper? XD.

And Big Boss... Wow... just wow... How aged he looks, and how the engine manages to deploy it... Amazing work in there.

Big Boss doesn't wear anymore his bandana. But he still refers him as Snake... Another point to have in mind.

And the guy over the radio is obviously Kaz... Maybe he told Big Boss everything after Paz's incident...

And the Soliton Radar was amazing XD.

But what is making me think a lot about is... The timespan between GZ and PW... I mean, is the kid is indeed Chico, he still looks very young, like if at most 2 years have passed after PW. Secondly, if Kaz got word Paz was alive and the US us trying to have her talk, then the game must be little time after PW... But Big Boss looks way too older... Argh...

And on top of it... The final tape from PW, where Kaz talks to Zero. He says everything on Mother Base is being sent to Angola, foreseeing the begining of Outer Heaven... But now Kaz says the UN will go inspect Mother Base... Which Mother Base does he refer? The original MB on the Caribbean Coast or a completelt new one, say... 200 kilometers north of Galzburg?

Anyway, this game looks amazing. I liked how the Grand Theft Auto mechanic was implemented lol. And how the helicopter can play Ride of the Valkyries XD. Anyway, they said that the chopper can travel through countries... Maybe it will be like MGS4 in the sense the game will have various locations?

considering how old Big Boss is in the trailer, that kid in the cage cant be Chico. that kid looks 13-14. given Big Boss' age, Chico would be in his early 20's.

plus the kid looks nothing like Chico.Smiley Tongue

also, is it just me or does it look like the silhouette of Cuba inside the Camp Omega symbol? actually, it is Cuba.

perhaps Camp Omega is pre-Guantanamo Bay.

Nope, it's Chico. The guy was talking about how he made it quick for the girl, referencing Amanda, who they just totally murdered.

My worst fears are going to be realized. You spend the entire time playing Peace Walker, making Mother Base the most badass base ever, stocked with tons of vehicles and even a Metal Gear, and the game is going to start with you somehow losing everything all at once and having your crew taken prisoner. Then, I don't know how, it's a struggle to get it all back. Or maybe you don't. Maybe this is what causes you to move to Outer Heaven. But either way, that happens in, what, 1995? If we read the clues right, this game is in the early 80's. So there's at least a 15 year gap where Mother Base falls and Outer Heaven rises.

i believe yet doubt its Chico.

i only doubt it is because the kid in the cage looks like a 14 year old white kid.

and the burned dude could have been refering to Paz and not Amanda. since Chico and Paz were both being held there.

Still the kid has the same eye-color as Chico. And Slender Man says "Give my regards to your Boss", implying that he is Chico. Or, the other possibility is that at that point of the saga, MSF was already implementing child soldiers...

If it's Chico, it can go either way with Paz or Amanda.  The guy said he 'kept his word' and that she 'didn't suffer long'.  Amanda is his sister and I think he had a crush on Paz so whichever one it was, he'd push for them not to suffer.  Also the guy asks him how it feels to be a traitor.  Paz turned on them so I kind of don't see how he'd feel like a traitor after that but turning on his sister is another story.  Didn't Chico want to be a soldier/help the resistance in PW?  The boy though seemed like he was kind of 'out of it all' with the news and only had a mind for the walkman/tape player so I'm kind of leaning towards it being someone else who had some viable info and that Chico & Paz are located elsewhere in the base, maybe not in the open and under tighter security.  Paz just seems too valuable to kill.

I'm actually wondering if the 'Burned' man is actually a 3rd party separate from Big Boss & Zero's forces.  They took off the XOF patches and erased the XOF label on the side of the helicopter when they had finished at the base.  They didn't seem too concerned with ditching the patches over the base/in the area since they had finished what they came there to do.  Maybe they were simply posing as Zero's forces and were simply using it as a cover to pass the info onto the boy (he may have some bigger importance?).

TGS can't come soon enough =\  We need more details cause Big Boss' look is kicking us in the teeth with the speculation and trying to make out who is who and what's what.

There's obviously some folks left working with Big Boss if he can just call in a heli whenever he wants. I highly doubt Kaz is personally flying all those escorts (he's got... other... things to do anyways).  I'd say this game starts 2-3 years after the Peace Walker incident (which is some of what was show in the video). Then goes forward a few years (maybe after someone... I dunno... Kaz sells out Big Boss at the end of part one) and Outer Heaven is all back up and running smoothly. Some **bleep** goes down (roughly in 1984, given that most of the Big Boss stuff has been set in '64, '74) we start seeing Big Boss turn to the darside. Then if this is to be acting "prelude" or whatever for 5 (unless the "part two" I spoke of is 5 proper and this is more a Portable Ops to Peace Walker prelude... but more cohesive and put together) then that must be when we get a Big Boss who's fully turned as the player character spanning the '84-'94. After that will come all the stuff with Solid from '95 onward. **bleep**, I dunno, needs more info.

also, did the Chico kid have the headphones plugged into his chest before he plugged it into the walkman? O.o

i assumed the burned guy was seperate from Zero and Big Boss. but im still confused as to what XOF is and who is behind it. is Zero behind it? is the burned guy behind it? is Big Boss' dyslexic long lost brother behind it, aka Ssob Gib?
