Here's mine:

Top 5 Best MGS Boss Fights:

5.- REX vs RAY

4.- Big Boss vs The End

3.- Solid Snake vs REX/Solid Snake vs Hind D*

2.- Big Boss vs The Boss :smileysad:

1.- Solid Snake vs Psycho Mantis

* Some may say why not Raiden vs Harrier, but the battle with the Hind was what broke the molds for other battles. The same could be said with Snake vs Rex instead of Raiden vs RAYs.

Top 5 Worst MGS Boss Fights:

5.- Raiden vs Fortune

4.- Old Snake vs Crying Wolf

3.- Old Snake vs Raging Raven

2.- Big Boss vs Cunningham

1.- Old Snake vs Vamp

Favorites:

Every MGS1 boss fight, roughly 60% of MGS3's boss fights, REX vs RAY, Snake vs Liquid Ocelot.

Everything else isn't cared about.

The Solid Snake vs Liquid Snake fight at the end of MGS is pretty much the best in the series.  Nearly all of the ones in MGS are stand out, probably because the characters themselves were interesting.

They kind of start to decline after that. MGS2 bosses are suppose to mimic the ones in MGS, so are a bit meh. MGS3 were all right, nothing stand out about any of them, it does have the most overrated boss in the series though.

Thinking about it now, the boss fights in MGS4 weren't that bad. Laughing Octopus, Crying Wolf, REX vs RAY, and the Liquid Ocelot fight were pretty good. :smileymad:

Crying Wolf's fight was horrible. had it not been for the fight being in the same area as the Sniper Wolf fight that fight would have sucked. it was like and incredibly dumbed down The End fight in snow.

Laughing Octopus' fight was the only decent B&B fight. despite it being fairly straight forward and simplistic, it still had a lot of great elements to it with all her camo disquises.

the Liquid Ocelot fight was good in the sense of the story, but the fight itself was really repetative. shame Snake wasnt skilled in CQC, would have been aswesome to see a crazy CQC fight in Ocelots MGS3 form like the little spar he had with Big Boss in the plane at the end of MGS3.

the only good fight that came out of MGS4 was REX vs. RAY. and thats for obvious reasons.

PO fights dont count as they were all redundant. :smileyvery-happy: :smileytongue:

although the fight against Gene was kind of neat. it was like a combination of Vamp and The Boss. plus him being the best character of that game helps too, but thats not saying much.

That's why I put Cunningham one. Gene fight was the best of the game, original at the least. Null's were meh, but at least fun. The same with Python. Cunningham was dumb.

And to your post above.

Crying Wolf's sucked just because the FROGs... If you put them out, and you'd be FORCED to use snipers... The fight would be neat.

Raging Raven's was repetitive, and since you had a sheetload of guns, the fight was mediocre.

Screaming Mantis' was the **bleep** sister of Psycho Mantis, and since it tried to recreate everything, even with Meryl attacking you and then herself, the fight wasn't that good.

Laughing Octopus' on the other hand, was the best of the B&Bs, since it was the only original fight of the game. Yeah, it was also a bit repetitive, but still it was a good fight.

And Liquid Ocelot vs Old Snake was, as you said, a good boss fight storywise, but it doesn't compare to the others, like Solid Snake vs Liquid Snake or even Raiden vs Solidus Snake (yay Katanarama!)

EDIT: Why is "s-c-u-m bag" a censored word?

crying wolfs fight was boring with or without the Haven Troopers. all you had to do was use night vision and the .50 Cal sniper and its over in minutes. a giant mechanical wolf robot running around howling isnt very stealthy. its a shame, seeing as she was the "sniper" of the team she sure did suck at it. would be neat if she had some sort of stealth/optical camo somewhat like The Fears. renders her nearly invisible for a period of time and then she would have to "recharge" or something, and she would become visible again when shes going to fire.

the Screaming Mantis fight was nearly as bad as the Vamp fight. use the nanomachine suppressant like youre supposed to do and the fight can be completed in minutes with a gun with a grenade launch attachment(use flash grenades on Meryl and shoot everything else).

had we not had the option to use the nanomachine suppressant and had to do other things, the fight would have been better.

The thing that makes a boss fight for me isn't just the gameplay, but the atmosphere and motivation behind it too. You can have the best boss fight in terms of gameplay but it isn't going to mean much if it doesn't have much content beyond that.

The Crying Wolf fight was good because you had to think about wind direction, and other factors like the Frogs. It taking place in the middle of a snow strom was cool too. In The End fight you could run around like a moron and still get the drop on him, it was hardly complex or difficult. :smileymad:

the REX vs RAY fight was just as repetitive as any boss fight, but it was f***ing REX vs RAY! we got to pilot REX and fight RAY!

Old Snake vs. Liquid Ocelot was just *move>block>punch>move>punch>punch>kick>move*. they could have made the entire thing a QTE or a cutscene and it would have had the same impact.

wind direction? what?

all i ever did with her fight was move around the small forested area to the side of the towers taking out Haven Troopers and waiting for her to stop running around and try to shoot me. even on extreme it was still stupidly easy.

at least with The End you actually had to look for him, and he could easily get the slip on you if you arent careful. i remember the first time playing that fight is crouched down behind a tree with the directional mic seeing if i could hear him, and when i unequipped the mic he was right behind me, freaked me out so badly. :smileyvery-happy:
