okay lets look at extremems here for a second.

on the extreme skill side we have quake live which is rediculosly skillfull think of halo +300% health and no OP rockets/grenades... yeah... thats incredibly skillfull.

On the other sides of the extremes we have... your favorite game! CoD!!!! with 3 bullet kills. basically this game is all about preparing yourself for the enemy, surprising them, tactics.

now if 10 is quak and 1 is cod in term of skill MAG fits at about a 6?

also MAG has other features tha quak doesnt have like headshots so I think that bumps it to 7

while MAG also takes a good amount of skill (aim, drop shots, etc) it can also be played semitactically like cod in tacticalness I give this about a 4 because a REALLY skilfull player will always triumph tactics in a one on one battle.

so looky here!

we have the best of both worlds! a game that takes skill and can use tactics in to beat people that are better than us. Yup... thats about it...

I believe the speed of the characters also make the game more challenging.  In COD you don't move at the same speed you do in MAG which makes you an easier target in COD.

the reason we love mag so much, is because the only other half-decent fps out is KZ3
