Oh, and there's this thing called, "other games", something no one here has apparently heard of. I love MAG. I play it daily. But when the servers shut down...I'll just play a different game. FPS games(and certainly not Dust) aren't the best games out there. Just find your own thing that you like. Try something you wouldn't usually try.
Not quite.
The Ouya is coming. May not seem like it now, but the whole gaming industry is about to have a paradigm shift.
well there will be some new consoles, Ouya, Nvidia's console, Steambox etc.
Ouya has
- NVIDIA Tegra3 quad-core processor
- 1GB RAM
Nvidia's has Tegra 4 (72 core gpu)
Heard that Steam Box is priced around $1,000 for the mid ranged box so not too sure what valve is up to.
streaming game content is a good idea but not sure if the ISP market is there to make it as successful as it needs to be. Remember network caps and iffy connections stilll exist, imagine lagging in a single player experience for example or capping and having to pay overages to play a single player game you bought.
What keeps gamers at Playstation, Nintendo and Microsoft are their exclusive games, for Ouya and Nvidia to succeed they need to create new experiences only available on their consoles, plus if networks are strong they will have to deal with the potential threat from at least Sony, who bought Gaikai.
(GaiKai does cloud gaming, i.e. process games server side stream video client side.)
I am not saying the Ouya will be the paradigm shift, but rather what it represents. Open Source gaming consoles.
Ouya right now has a price point of $99 and it's as powerful as it's competition... but they'll be releasing new versions every year with the best hardware they can fit into a $99 price point. If they were smart they'd come out with an Ouya Pro that has top of the line hardware with the same open source OS.
You don't get it...
It's about how it has been for a lot of people, now what's coming. It's about what's good and what works, about something that's still good and has a lot of potential, not some open-source gaming system. I'm not saying the Ouya is bad, but why try and keep making something new when you have something that already works well.
And that's to say nothing of trophy hunters. You'd be surprised at how many of people in the PS community are prolific trophy hunters. MAG killed my trophy hunting career, and as a result, I only have a measly lvl 12 card and 9 platinums, with another game(no platinum) at 100%. But I doing tasks, getting everything done, all that stuff, because it's fun. I looked up your user card, and you clearly can't understand that mentality, what with 0 plats and lvl 4 card. I'm not bashing you or saying you're inferior. Everyone has their own style, and that's cool. But you can't understand it.
All in all, while the Ouya may not be bad, I won't be buying it, and I'd bet that many other people won't buy it for the reasons I stated above.

I suppose only time will tell.
I know how difficult it is to get a game to market and frankly Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo are extremely hard to get your product onto. You need tremendous amounts of money not only supporting you in the development, but just to pay your way onto the platforms.
OUYA and other consoles like it allow for very very low budget game developers to release their products with little to no overhead. Two guys and a dream can put their game out there and watch as people flock to it because of it's entertainment value. To do the same thing on one of the big 3 consoles would require major financial backing which is difficult to find.
This is why I think it is the way of the future. Anytime in history where there is FREEDOM within the marketplace to determine the best product, man kind has flocked to it. You may not see that with the OUYA or other consoles like it, but I do.

I've been in the dust beta a long time. Dust is not MAG2 at all. I like it but its not MAG2, not close IMO.
