It occured to me the other day that everything I had predicted and talked about in the closed beta about KZ3 has actually happened:
1 - That the beta was pretty much the final version. Lots of people said no way that it was just a demo and all the stuff that was missing would be in the final release. Guess not.
2 - That the *unranked* custom games was a waste of time and resources and no one would use it. Well, okay, maybe three guys actually used it.
3 - That TSPs would not fix anything and in fact would make matters worse. They did - KZ3 has the most unbalanced pubs I've seen in any game: you're either camping the enemy's base or being camped. The reason is what I said at the time also: you have to be devoided of any inteligence to think that its a good idea to make the tact stand in an area *where all the enemies are spawning* and somehow manage to take it back.
4 - That lack of custom rooms would lead to people losing interest fast because it killed the diverse gameplay that KZ2 had. This coupled with 3 makes all pub games the same, over and over again. Spawn, take TSPs, camp until the game is done.
5 - That the Marksman was overpowered with its assault riffle. This one I can show in-game to anyone that cares .
6 - That 8-men roaming squad would lead to pub rooms unbalanced because its too many entering at the same time and the other side usually doesn't want to wait until maybe, eventually, the room evens out (probably when they're already losing 0-4 because of the unbalance).
I could write many more, but I'll just point out one more thing that I insisted back then: that changing the game to try to capture a crowd that had already decided they didn't like the series (the cod crowd) was a really bad idea. Sales proved me right. KZ3's rate of sales has always been worse than KZ2. At very best it will eventually sell the same. Last time I checked it was selling *less* for the same period of time.
So, do I get a prize ?
Or maybe I can give GG/SONY some advice on KZ4 because you obviously don't know what your fans want.

LOL this forum is so dead. One month in and my thread is still at the near top of the first page. Here, let me bump it for the next six months.
And since I stopped by, let me share some more of my awesome gaming knowledge with those clueless GG folks. I should be getting paid for this, seriously.
- Match making: first, it doesn't work. It still puts a single player randomly seeking a match into the wrong side of a say 10 v 4 making it 11 v 4. After all the 'tweaks' they failed to make it work at this fundamental level. Plus, not allowing to pick a server is retarded.
- Clan system. There is none. KZ2 had it and it was awesome. Perfectly integrated into the forums too. Tourneys, battle replays, the works. KZ3 has a match making for clans. Can you say 'downgrade' ? Also, clans cannot challenge each other. Stoopid.
- Clan xp algorithm. R - e - t - a - r - d - e - d. You climb up then your clan has one bad game against some odd new clan and it sinks like a rock on the scoreboard. The rational was that if your top clan lost against a lower xp clan, then it had no right being at the top because you just lost against noobs. But the genious behind this failed to realize that said low xp clan could be a side clan made of really good players so although the clan has low xp its actually a top one skill-wise.
- Invisible walls. Please GG, next time choose function over form please. Jagged edges may be more natural and good looking, but if your map mask can't keep up, I'll take flat edges any day. Having your enemy on plain sight, shoot and all you have is sparks of your ammo hitting an invisible wall is..... r - e - t - a - r - d - e - d.
