Re: Killzone 3 - Ask the Dev thread

In the gameplay footage we see Sev sliding to a crate then jumping over it, so here's the question: What are the limitations on sliding? Can it be done on any surface? Can it be done to any cover? Do you need an object to slide to?

My question to Seb is if GG has any plans to improve the skirmish mode for KZ3? In particular giving offline all the same options as online has in terms of customizing the parameters of the game. Also if you could please make it so that we don't have to go online in order to unlock classes/weapons offline, ie. a separate ranking system or "offline profile" so that those of us without an internet connection can also enjoy the progression of ranking up and unlocking without being stuck just playing as the rifleman class. The amount of XP earned could be dependent on the difficulty setting. Would this not be relatively easy to implement?

Not talking anything to do with MP.  MP will be revealed in due course.

Don't mean to sound like a persistent tool, but how can skirmish mode be considered MP? Unless you bring back offline splitscreen or implement LAN. KZ2's Skirmish was a single player experience only. Maybe Seb is hinting that will not be the case for KZ3.

Skirmish mode involves the multiplayer maps. As such, it has something to do with MP.

So as far as the game animation goes. Are you guys doing a lot of mocap? Did you guys get a lot of influence from the way Uncharted did it's story pieces? I would assume that things like the melees are keyed still. Just curious as to how the performances are being done.
Yup, still doing a lot of mocap, using fancier gear than on KZ2.  Melee is mixed.

Hey sub, will there be destructible enviroments or anything like that?

If you look at the gameplay trailers it should give you an idea of the level of destructibility

Current implementation is you can slide at any time.  While sprinting you hit crouch and it will slide forward and if by the end of the slide you find a Lean & Peak point you'll snap to it.

Wow. In a good way. That is so cool, can you kick while sliding, haha that would be awesome
