We all know that Killzone.com has it's ups and it's downs so sometimes you can't connect (hopefully not a problem anymore :smileywink:). So I'm posting this (much like Paradasins story thread) for those who cannot view it on Killzone.com

I've put a substantial amount of effort in this thread so I would at least expect some respectful critism please and thank you.

CONTROLS

SCORING MECHANICS

Killzone's Warzone scoring mechanics consists of two scoring systems that track Individual Scores and Faction Scores. The two scoring systems enable players to track their own progress and their Faction's progress during the game.

INDIVIDUAL SCORES
Individual Scores track the player's progress in the game. All scores gained are tracked and compiled into one statistics page that is used to rank the player against other players in the game. As your scores go up, you will move up amongst the ranks and unlock badge abilities and rewards. All players start Warzone games with a score of zero. Points are gained for killing members of the opposing team or completing Mission Objectives. Points are deducted for killing members of the player's own Faction or committing suicide. Individual Scores can be gained faster if players have earned medals. As an added bonus for winning Warzones, Individual Scores of players have a bonus multiplier applied to them.

FACTION SCORES
Factions gain points during the Warzone by winning missions. These Mission Wins indicate the overall progress of the Faction during Warzones. Both Factions start Warzone games with zero Mission Wins. To win Warzones, Factions have to win the most Missions. Remember: by winning the Warzone, all members of the winning Faction have a bonus multiplier applied to their Individual Scores, so it is crucial that everyone plays to win!

TRACKING PROGRESS AND WINNING MISSIONS
The Mission progress-bar shows a Faction's progress during missions. At the start of a Mission, the progress-bar is empty. By completing Mission Objectives, the progress-bar fills up progressively. Factions win the Mission by having the greatest mission-progress when the Mission timer runs out or by completing the mission, filling up the progress-bar completely.

INGAME SCOREBOARD
By pressing the select-button on the controller, players can track their current rank in the ingame scoreboard. Next to a players rank and the number of Mission Wins, the scoreboard gives an overview of the following statistics:

  • Number of deaths
  • Penalty Points (teamkills + suicides)
  • Mission Points
  • Kill Points
  • Total Points (Kill Points + Mission Points - Penalty Points)

GAMEMODE SCORING

Assassination

  • The target receives 10 Individual Points if he survives the mission.
  • Players receive 5 Individual Points for mortally wounding the target.
  • Players that assassinate the target receive 5 Individual Points.

The defending faction can only win by keeping the target alive outside his base camp during the mission. Remember that a mortally wounded target can still be revived, so have medics on standby to save a wounded target and the mission! The attacking faction wins by killing the target before the time runs out. During Warzones, Factions play two rounds of the Mission, both as the assassins and target side.

Bodycount

  • Players are awarded with 2 Individual Points for each enemy kill.

Friendly kills and suicides do not count as a kill, but lead to loss of points. Factions win by killing the predetermined number of enemy players or by having made the most Mission Progress when the mission timer runs out.

Capture & Hold

  • Players killing enemies in a friendly Mission Area receive +1 Individual Point per kill on top of the point scored for killing an enemy.

Factions win by either holding friendly Mission Areas for a predetermined amount of time or by having made the most Mission Progress when the mission timer runs out. A Mission Area is deemed friendly while your Faction is the only one in the area.

Search & Destroy

  • Attacking Faction players get 3 Individual Points for placing an explosive charge that successfully detonates.
  • Defending Faction players killing enemies in a friendly Mission Area receive 1 Mission Point per kill on top of the point scored for killing an enemy.

The attacking Faction wins if they destroy the Mission Objective. The defending Faction wins if they prevent the attacking Faction from destroying the Mission Objective until the mission timer runs out. During Warzones, Factions play two rounds of the Mission, both as the attacking and defending side.

Search & Retrieve

  • The player that returns a Mission Objective successfully is awarded 3 Individual Points.

Factions win by either returning the predetermined number of Mission Objectives or by having returned the most Mission Objectives when the mission timer runs out.

REWARDS, RANKS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

It is said that all men are created equal, but Killzone 2 players know they don't remain that way for very long. During the game, players score points for killing enemies and successfully completing Mission Objectives. As the scores go up, players move up amongst the ranks, unlocking special badge abilities and receiving rewards in the process. Here is a little insight in Killzone 2's rank and reward system, which is based on skill, dedication, teamplay and honor. Do you have what it takes to make it from grunt to a decorated General?

BASIC MILITARY RANKS
Player skill and dedication translates to a player's Basic Military Rank, which is gained by killing enemies and completing Mission Objectives. Gaining a higher rank will also lead to the unlocking of content as a reward. Once players have attained a certain rank, they can only lose that rank by receiving penalty points, which a player gets by team killing or committing suicides.

HONOR RANKS
After having gained the rank of General, players automatically compete for honor ranks, which are awarded every week to the cream of the crop of players in the universe.

Killzone.com - News

Honor ranks are rewarded by comparing player statistics over the period of one week. After honor ranks have been rewarded, the gathering of statistics restarts.

RIBBONS
Next to attaining a certain rank, players are also rewarded for performing specific feats or accomplishing specific goals during the course of one round. These rewards come in the form of ribbons and medals, which can be viewed in the Player Profile.

MEDALS
It's possible for players to accumulate ribbons of the same type. Once the player has been rewarded with enough ribbons of one type, he receives the associated Medal and new content is unlocked.

CLAN VALOR
Valor is Killzone 2’s clan currency. It can be used to pay entry fees for clan tournaments, but also as a wager during clan matches. It can be used by clan leaders and clan officers when they create clan challenges or enter tournaments. Valor also directly determines the rank of clans, so the more Valor a clan earns, the higher it will be ranked.

Example

  • Clan A challenges Clan B for 100 Valor.
  • Clan A and B both donate 100 Valor before the game starts.
  • After the game, the winning clan receives the total amount (in this case 200 Valor), the losing clan receives nothing.

Clans that are created receive +100 Valor as a gift. To prevent ghost-clans from being created purely for the purpose of having their points farmed by others, newly created clans can only use a limited amount of Valor during their first few matches. However, as clans start to win matches, they move up amongst the ranks and earn more Valor to spend on matches and entry fees, ultimately leading to truly high-stakes matches!

Next to winning matches and tournaments, Valor can also be earned through rewards. A clan is rewarded once for winning their first 10, 25 or 50 clan matches.

CLAN TOURNAMENTS

So you’ve recruited a few players, set up a clan, created your own clan page, and maybe even fought a practice match or two. Now what? If you want your clan’s name and reputation to become synonymous with total online domination, you’ll have to prove yourself in the clan tournaments!

THE PATH TO GLORY

As the leader or officer of your new clan, there are two ways to enlist in the clan tournaments: you can either create your own clan tournament, or sign up for a clan tournament someone else has created. In either case, you’ll have to pay an “entry fee”, using your Clan Valor points as currency.

To create your own clan tournament, go to the Tournaments screen and set the desired parameters, such as map settings, mission settings, and badge settings. Pay careful attention to the scheduling options; larger clan tournaments can take several days to complete, so make sure your clan members are able to attend during their designated matches. As a precaution, participating clan members are sent a reminder 15 minutes in advance of the start of a match.

To sign up for an existing clan tournament, go to the Tournaments screen and browse through the list of available clan tournaments until you find one that suits your preferences. Finished clan tournaments, as well as tournaments which are currently in progress, are not available for joining. Please bear in mind that you can only sign up for a clan tournament once, and that all sign-ups are final! Withdrawing from a clan tournament is not allowed, and not showing up counts as a forfeit.

THE SPOILS OF VICTORY
Clan tournaments follow a play-off system: the clan that loses a round is eliminated from the tournament, while the winning clan proceeds to the next round. Winners are determined by most Mission Victories first, most Individual Points second, and most Individual Kills last. For each new round, surviving clans from the previous round are randomly pitched against each other. This process continues until the finals, where first and second place are determined. A separate match between the losing semi-finalists determines third place.

Once the outcome of a clan tournament is known, the Clan Valor points waged by the contestants are split up into the following prizes:

  • 1st Place: 60% of all Valor
  • 2nd Place: 30% of all Valor
  • 3rd Place: 10% of all Valor

Official Sony or Guerrilla-sponsored clan tournaments can have additional benefits, such as a weeklong “Featured Clan” spotlight on Killzone.com or other goodies. Rest assured, once you start winning clan tournaments and having your clan page featured on the official website, you won’t be short of challengers for very long...

MAPS: SALAMUN MARKET

The road that crosses through Salamun Market is a critical path through the district. The ISA have constructed a primary outpost at the entrance of the area, leaving the Helghast to retreat to a fortified garage on the other side. Both factions are fighting to secure the building complex at the center of the market, an important strategic location to gain control over the entire region and an excellent location to deploy an extra spawn point.

MAP SPECIFICATIONS
Area                                        :  2.5 square kilometers
Setting                                    :  Urban environment at dusk time
Suggested number of players     :  16 - 32
Number of ammo boxes            :  14
Number of mounted weapons    :  12
Number of explosive barrels       :  13

LARGE SCALED URBAN WARFARE
Salamun Market offers the ultimate playground for some serious multiplayer mayhem, because it provides plenty of room to play with any number of players ranging anywhere from 16 to 32. Because of the urban layout, Salamun Market gives players a lot of variation in the way they can navigate through the map and get to different mission areas. Whereas the open areas allow players to move fast, the side-buildings offer a lot more cover. This allows players to adopt their favorite playing style. Two special areas are the sniper-buildings, which are located near both Search & Destroy areas. These buildings, which offer a clear shot on both Search & Destroy and Capture & Hold mission areas, can only be reached through one entrance and are relatively easy to defend, making them a beloved spot for Scouts.

MISSION INTELLIGENCE

Bodycount

  • Study map to locate zones with heavy fighting
  • Engage and fire at will
  • Shoot to kill

MAPS: RADEC ACADEMY

Radec academy is a major icon of the Helghan supremacy. Countless soldiers graduate there each year, forming the bulk of the HGH army. ISA command has dispatched elite troops to try to take and secure the academy, causing a powerful emotional blow to the enemy. Fighting inside this large structure will require solid team tactics, making sure you and your team mates secure each room before moving on to the next area.

MAP SPECIFICATIONS
Area      :  1.2 km by 1 km on 2 floors
Setting      :  Interior, well lit map
Suggested number of players      :  16 - 32
Number of ammo boxes      :  9
Number of mounted weapons      :  3
Number of explosive barrels      :  0

TWO FLOORS OF INTENSE INDOOR FIGHTING
Radec academy not only delivers the toughest soldiers of the HGH army, it also delivers two floors of intense close-quarters battle. Though the building itself is quite large, offering room to a preferred number of players ranging from 16 to 32, the structure's layout makes missions inside Radec Academy extremely intense and victory often very hard-fought. Radec Academy is the only map to feature complete indoor gameplay and it uses realistic details like the destructibility of almost all structures and objects to give players an intense sensation while playing. The natural choking points near stairways and halls provide an excellent opportunity for Engineers and Saboteurs to lay down strong defensive lines, which will prove hard to breach if you don't play as a team.

  • Avoid open spaces while returning the object
  • Location of return area is suggested to be under heavy fire
  • Recommend usage of speed boost ability to avoid being in the killzone too long

Bodycount

  • Study map to locate zones with heavy fighting
  • Find high ground to gain advantage
  • Engage and fire at will
  • Shoot to kill
  • Unconfirmed intel suggests a tunnel under the building which can be used to move covertly

MAPS: BLOOD GRACHT

Located near the heavily defended Visari Square, this canal is the perfect and quickest route around that dangerous area. Light and specialized ISA troops are trying to establish a safe perimeter around the canal to provide safe passage for support and supply. Fighting around this residential quarter with guerrilla tactics, the Helghast army is trying to push back and stop their enemies from taking over this important shortcut, cutting their advance into Pyrrhus' heart.

MAP SPECIFICATIONS
Area      :  0.7km by 1.1km
Setting      :  Smaller and confined areas
Suggested number of players      :  8 - 16
Number of ammo boxes      :  8
Number of mounted weapons      :  3
Number of explosive barrels      :  9

HIGH RISK MISSION AREAS
Blood Gracht is a smaller and non-symmetrical map that offers intense close quarter combat for about 8 to 16 players. But don’t let the size seduce you into thinking you’ll quickly reach mission objectives on this map, as the Canal is a true killzone for snipers that have higher ground. The height difference is also one of the features of this map, leaving players with multiple options to approach Mission Objectives, which are often located close to enemy territory and lead to high-risk missions. Due to the relatively open nature of the map, smart use of Saboteurs and Tacticians is extremely useful to counter sniping Scouts. However, this does require versatility in your faction, which could be challenging with a limited amount of players.

MISSION INTELLIGENCE

Assassination

  • Keep assassination target alive
  • Stay inside and avoid snipers
  • Keep target away from open areas at all costs
  • Stay on the move to minimize the chance of being pinned down in a small area
  • Gain access to locations with limited entry possibilities to maximize the chance of mission success

Capture & Hold

  • Capture and hold vital mission areas
  • Capturing the majority of the mission areas is vital for mission success
  • Mission area near base needs to be defended at all costs
  • Deployment of extra spawnpoints to guarantee logistics is highly recommended
  • Use scouts to cover troops that hold the mission area in the canal

Search & Destroy

  • Take out strategic mission objectives in enemy controlled area and prevent them from reinforcing
  • Expect heavy enemy resistance

  • Deploying of spawnpoints to control logistics is likely to be essential
  • Watch for snipers hiding in the side buildings
  • Call in air support to engage against snipers
  • Use of Saboteurs to covertly approach and defend the objective is recommended

Search & Retrieve

  • Intel shows a propaganda speaker is located near the end of the tunnel that is located the middle of the canal
  • Retrieve the mission object and return it next to enemy base at the end of the channel
  • Be extremely aware of snipers
  • Due to location of return area near enemy base expect it to be under heavy enemy fire
  • Speed boost ability is recommended when returning the objective through the canal

Bodycount

  • Study map to locate zones with heavy fighting
  • Engage and fire at will
  • Shoot to kill
  • Watch out for snipers controlling the open areas near the canal

GAME MODES: ASSASSINATION

Have you got what it takes to survive the deadliest of assassination squads? Better get moving then! But remember to stay close to your buddies as they're putting their lives on the line to save yours. In this serious game of cat and mouse, one player of the defending faction will be selected to become the target of assassination by the attacking faction. After being selected, the target has 30 seconds to move into a safe position. If is killed within this time frame, another player is automatically selected to become the new target. However, if three selected players are killed within this time frame, the defensive side loses the mission. After the 30 second window closes, the objective for the defending faction is both simple and hard: prevent the target from getting killed.

To live and fight another day, listen carefully to the advice of Sun Tzu: "In battle, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak" But mind you, the mission could be over with just one well-aimed head shot.

SCORING

  • The target receives 10 Individual Points if he survives the mission.
  • Players receive 5 Individual Points for mortally wounding the target.
  • Players that assassinate the target receive 5 Individual Points.

The defending faction can only win by keeping the target alive outside his base camp during the mission. Remember that a mortally wounded target can still be revived, so have medics on standby to save a wounded target and the mission! The attacking faction wins by killing the target before the time runs out. During Warzones, Factions play two rounds of the Mission, both as the assassins and target side.

HUD INFORMATION

MAPS: CORINTH CROSSING

Bridges crossing the Corinth River are vital infrastructures for both factions. They enable the ISA army to move deeper into the city, but are extremely dangerous choke points that the Helghan troops will protect with all their might. The ISA troops will pay dearly for every inches of the bridge they capture.

MAP SPECIFICATIONS
Area      :  1km by 1.8km
Setting      :  Destroyed bridge
Suggested number of players      :  12 - 24
Number of ammo boxes      :  8
Number of mounted weapons      :  4

BURNING BRIDGES

Spanning the width of the Corinth River, this relatively small, yet complex map offers room to a lot of different playing styles. The multi-leveled, non-symmetrical layout provides a lot of cover in the lower areas, while the upper area gives a birdseye view of the entire map, making it an ideal position for snipers. More good spots for snipers are both piers on the lower level. The piers that also hold capture and hold points extend into the river, offering a good view on respectively the south- or north-side of the map. Through the various maintenance catwalks underneath the bridge, players can get from one side of the map to the other fairly quickly. Be aware, though, that large holes in the bridge’s structure will make these sometimes narrow catwalks vulnerable to fire from above. Make sure to bring proximity mines and sentry turrets in this level, as there are many different routes to cover and without the extra automated firepower, you’ll surely be spread too thin for cover...

MISSION INTELLIGENCE

Assassination

  • Keep assassination target alive
  • Find covered areas on upper levels and keep target away from bridge openings
  • Beware of scouts operating from high ground and located near basecamps
  • Gain access to locations with limited entry possibilities to maximize the chance of mission success

Capture & Hold

  • Capture and hold vital mission areas
  • Mission area on the top of the bridge is expected to be under heavy enemy fire
  • Upper level of bridge is of strategic importance
  • Beware of emplaced machineguns covering central mission area
  • Use scouts and assaults to provide cover fire from high ground
  • Use tactically deployed spawn points to defend high ground

Search & Destroy

  • Search and destroy vital targets near enemy base
  • Expect heavy enemy resistance due to proximity of enemy basecamp
  • Deploying of spawnpoints to control logistics might be essential
  • Repair ammo boxes to ensure ammunition whilst covering critical chocke points
  • Use Scouts to cover search and destroy objective

Search & Retrieve

  • Intel suggests a propaganda speaker is underneath the bridge
  • Controlling upper level and central lower platform is vital for mission success
  • Use proximity mines and sentry turrets to protect lower platform access
  • Retrieve the mission object and return it through hole in the bridge's upper level
  • Expect heavy fighting to defend access to return area
  • Use Assault's boost ability for quick and agile return of speaker

Body Count

  • Study map to locate zones with heavy fighting
  • Engage and fire at will
  • Use Sentry Turrets and Air Support to control upper level
  • Shoot to kill

MAPS: THARSIS DEPOT

Deep into Helghan’s bowel are numerous depots where the HGH government stocks thousand of Petrosite barrels. With the Intel acquired from other raids, the ISA troops are trying to seize control of the depots, cutting the HGH army from valuable resources. The cramped nature of the depots makes it a very dangerous and intense place to fight. Prepare to meet enemies at every corner.

MAP SPECIFICATIONS
Area      :  0.8km by 1.3km
Setting      :  Tharsis / Mine environment
Suggested number of players      :  2 - 16
Number of ammo boxes      :  8
Number of mounted weapons      :  0

EXPLOSIVE ACTION, UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
Tharis Depot is a small map, which offers frantic combat situations and non-stop one-on-one action. The depot is full of smaller rooms, which can be accessed through a network of stairways and walkways. This makes it easy to lose track of your teammates and find yourself facing the enemy completely on your own. The two basecamps are relatively close together, leading to action packed missions, especially near the control room in the center, which acts as the central hub and not only holds the spawn areas for the Search and Retrieve Missions, but also the critical third Capture and Hold point. This room has walkways covering the whole room. These walkways offer an excellent spot for defensive turrets. However, be aware of boobytraps that can be placed effectively in the staircases leading up to the upper floors. Another vital area is the power room, which offers a quick way from one spawn point to another, while avoiding the central control room.

MISSION INTELLIGENCE

Assassination

  • Keep assassination target alive
  • Target is advised to remain on the move due to open nature of location
  • Beware of ambushes in the stairwells
  • Gain access to locations with limited entry possibilities to maximize the chance of mission success

Capture & Hold

  • Capture and hold critical mission areas
  • Hold on to mission area near base at all costs
  • Mission area in the control room is expected to be hot
  • Central mission area of strategic importance
  • Beware of enemy fire coming from higher ground

Search & Destroy

  • Search and destroy vital mission objectives
  • Expect heavy enemy resistance and emplaced machineguns
  • Deploying of spawnpoints to control logistics might be essential
  • Prevent being flanked from the walkways

Search & Retrieve

  • Intel suggests a propaganda speaker is located in the control room
  • Retrieve the mission object and return it near control room
  • Beware of open nature of return area
  • Expect pickup area to be hot and under heavy enemy fire
  • Speed and distraction could be vital to mission success

Bodycount

  • Study map to locate zones with heavy fighting
  • Engage and fire at will
  • Deploy Sentry Turrets near the main building to protect spawn area

MAPS: VISARI HAMMER

The hammer is one of numerous giant Helghan Arc Cannon protecting Visari Palace. The Petrosite fired from these weapons can even reach outer space. ISA forces landed on the platform and are fiercely trying to disable the mighty cannon so orbital ships can safely launch fresh troops. It’s obvious the HGH army won’t let their enemy capture the mighty hammer without a fight. A bloody and hard fight.

MAP SPECIFICATIONS
Area      :  1.7km by 1.3km
Setting      :  Visari / underground environment
Suggested number of players      :  12 - 24
Number of ammo boxes      :  14
Number of mounted weapons      :  7

MULTILAYERED MAYHEM
Though the dimensions of this map may not appear that large, the layered setup requires a solid knowledge of the routes to different target areas and the very best of team tactics. For the inexperienced trooper, the Arc Canon site can be a true maze with its raised catwalks, intricate underground complex and multi story layout. This gives seasoned veterans an unmistakable advantage over them. Both ISA and HGH spawn on the lower levels of the map and have a variation of routes to make their way towards the targets. Combat will usually be the heaviest in the area directly surrounding the Arc Cannon. The four fuel towers overlooking the area (two of which hold Search and Destroy targets) are excellent vantage points to cover a large portion of the area below. However, due to the extended network of underground tunnels, well trained teams can coordinate attacks from covered positions.

MISSION INTELLIGENCE

Assassination

  • Keep assassination target alive
  • Use underground area to transport target unseen
  • Protect stairways and tunnels with proximity mines
  • Beware of snipers operating from fuel towers
  • Gain access to locations with limited entry possibilities to maximize the chance of mission success

Capture & Hold

  • Capture and hold vital mission areas
  • Capturing the majority of the mission areas is vital for mission success
  • Use sentry turrets or fix emplaced guns to protect Capture & Hold Areas
  • Position Scouts in the towers to control walkways
  • Split troops into two groups to gain quick access to second mission area

Search & Destroy

  • Search and Destroy both objectives in Fuel Towers
  • Expect heavy enemy resistance while getting to higher ground
  • Deploying of underground spawnpoints to control logistics might be essential
  • Use rocket launchers to prevent Fuel Towers being taken by enemies
  • Watch out for ambushes while entering Fuel Towers

Search & Retrieve

  • Location of propaganda speaker is unclear
  • Secure underground complex to control potential spawn locations
  • Retrieve the speaker and return it deep in enemy territory
  • Use engineers to fix emplaced machineguns near return area

Bodycount

  • Study map to locate zones with heavy fighting
  • Engage and fire at will
  • Deploy spawnpoint at opposite side of the bridge to control logistics

MAPS: HELGHAN INDUSTRIES

This old industrial complex was once a busy hive of HGH engineers working on experimental technology, making it a prime target for ISA troops to investigate in case important information would have been forgotten inside some of the databanks around the site. Unfortunately for them, Helghan Counter-Intelligence has intercepted and decoded their communications and a battalion is being deployed in the area to search and destroy any remaining Intel before the ISA can put their hands on it.

MAP SPECIFICATIONS
Area      :  1.8km by 1.5km
Setting      :  Slum / Visari environment
Suggested number of players      :  12 - 24
Number of ammo boxes      :  10
Number of mounted weapons      :  6

INDUSTRIAL WARFARE

Helghan Industries is a small to medium-sized map that offers room to 12 to 24 players and features action packed missions. The map is divided into two parts by the large control building and factory complex, which are connected by an overhanging bridge and hold a strategically important Capture and Hold area and both Search and Destroy objectives. In between is the access road, the central thoroughfare which is prone to sniperfire and where players are also vulnerable to enemy fire from the topfloor of both buildings. So without a doubt, this is where the most intense fighting will be going on and even though this is the fastest way across the map, it is obviously the most dangerous one. The industrial setting caters to a variation of different playing styles. Scouts can keep an eye on the roadway from the rooftops near their respective bases, while more close combat type players fight their way through the confined spaces of the buildings.

MISSION INTELLIGENCE

Assassination

  • Keep assassination target alive
  • Find confined areas that provide decent cover
  • Keep target away from central roadway at all costs
  • Beware of snipers operating from rooftops
  • Gain access to locations with limited entry possibilities to maximize the chance of mission success

Capture & Hold

  • Capture and hold vital mission areas
  • Hold down rooftop area with all possible means
  • Central mission area of strategic importance
  • Beware of sniper fire coming from the rooftops

Search & Destroy

  • Search and destroy vital factory resources
  • Expect heavy enemy resistance
  • Deploying of spawnpoints to control logistics might be essential
  • Use proximity mines and sentry turrets to hold position near enemy base

Search & Retrieve

  • Intel suggests a propaganda speaker is located on the bridge of the central buildings
  • Retrieve the speaker object and return it at the dropoff point
  • Use Air support and Sentry turrets to guard main road
  • Confusing the enemy with saboteurs is recommended

Bodycount

  • Study map to locate zones with heavy fighting
  • Engage and fire at will
  • Deploy spawnpoint at opposite side of the bridge to control logistics

MAPS: PYRHUSS RISE

Named after the Helghan capital, Pyrrhus Rise was one of the first Petrosite mining sites. Being an older, nearly depleted mine, ISA Command hoped the security around the complex would be relaxed compare to other key mining areas. Sadly for them, the Helghan army won’t give away anything to the ISA without a fight. This very large, open mining site is about to become a very messy and dangerous battlefield.

MAP SPECIFICATIONS
Area      :  2.8km by 1.8km
Setting      :  Wasteland environment with long lines of sight
Suggested number of players      :  16 - 32
Number of ammo boxes      :  10
Number of mounted weapons      :  4

ROUGH INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENT
Also known as the windy city, Pyrrhus Rise offers a harsh industrial setting in which players not only fight each other, but also the tough elements. The map is quite large, providing room to play with any number of players ranging from 16 to 32. It combines large open areas in the form of three wide open bridges between the more covered areas near both factions’ basecamps. These open areas, especially the lowered bridge in the center of the map, leave the player very vulnerable to enemy sniperfire from the high ground on all sides. But, even though these higher areas provide more cover and variation, the crux of Pyrhuss Rise often lies in this dangerous center. Not only because it holds a strategically essential Capture and Hold area, but also because it is the fastest route across the map. To provide better cover on the bridge, two mounted guns are placed on either side, which need to be repaired by engineers before use. Due to the long lines of sight, well trained scouts can gain an advantage for their team. However, well disguised saboteurs should be able to provide just that tiny amount of confusion that is needed to cross the map and get up close and personal with enemy snipers.

MISSION INTELLIGENCE

Assassination

  • Keep assassination target alive
  • Use old barracks that provide ample cover
  • Keep target away from open areas at all costs
  • Beware of snipers that have long line of sight throughout the area
  • Gain access to locations with limited entry possibilities to maximize the chance of mission success

Capture & Hold

  • Capture and hold vital mission areas
  • Capturing the majority of the mission areas is vital for mission success
  • Hold on to mission area near base at all costs
  • Mission area on the bridge expected to be under heavy enemy fire
  • Use mounted guns and proximity mines to protect captured bridge area
  • Beware of sniper fire on the bridge

Search & Destroy

  • Search and destroy key areas near enemy base
  • Expect heavy enemy resistance. Use sentry turrets to create a strong defensive perimeter
  • Deployment of spawnpoints to control logistics near S&D point is essential
  • Watch out for snipers covering the open areas

Search & Retrieve

  • Intel suggests a propaganda speaker is located on the central bridge
  • Retrieve the mission object and return it near the enemy base
  • Beware of open nature of return area. Use Assault’s secondary boost ability to get in and out as quickly as possible
  • Expect return area to be hot and under heavy enemy fire
  • Confusing the enemy with saboteurs can buy retrieval squad some extra time

Bodycount

  • Study map to locate zones with heavy fighting
  • Engage and fire at will
  • Deploy spawnpoint at opposite side of the bridge to control logistics

GAME MODES: BODY COUNT

Rack 'em and stack 'em! In this classical Team Deathmatch scenario, the Helghast and ISA face off in a grueling head to head battle. Your goal is to rack up as many enemy kills as you possibly can, instilling nothing but fear and mayhem in the minds of the opposing faction-members. And show no mercy, as its kill or be killed in this cut throat fight, where only the toughest and strongest will survive.

A word to the wise from Sun Tzu for those who don't want to become a mere statistic in the Body Count: "The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's not coming or attacking, but on our own readiness to receive him." So, are you ready? Then let the body counting begin...

SCORING
Players are awarded with 2 Individual Points for each enemy kill.
Friendly kills and suicides do not count as a kill, but lead to loss of points. Factions win by killing the predetermined number of enemy players or by having made the most Mission Progress when the mission timer runs out.

HUD INFORMATION

GAME MODES: CAPTURE AND HOLD

Playing Capture and Hold is like walking the tight rope: if you don't have the balance it takes, you will unmercifully fall. And mind you, this battle requires a well-balanced skill-set if you want to be victorious. Use your best offensive tactics to capture designated Mission Areas with your faction and stand your defensive ground as long as possible, because the longer you occupy Mission Areas, the closer you get to victory.

And remember the words from Sun Tzu: "Whoever is first in the field, awaiting the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight; whoever is second in the field, hastening to battle will arrive exhausted." So make sure you capture those Mission Areas first!

SCORING

  • Players killing enemies in a friendly Mission Area receive +1 Individual Point per kill on top of the point scored for killing an enemy.

Factions win by either holding friendly Mission Areas for a predetermined amount of time or by having made the most Mission Progress when the mission timer runs out. A Mission Area is deemed friendly while your Faction is the only one in the area. The more Mission Areas your Faction controls, the faster the Progress bar fills up.

HUD INFORMATION
Watch your HUD carefully to check the status of different Mission Areas. Note that when a Mission area is green, it can be used as a secondary spawn area.

  • Neutral – Gray Color – Neither faction owns the Mission Area
  • Friendly – Green Color – Your faction owns the Mission Area
  • Enemy – Red Color – The opposing faction owns the Mission Area

GAME MODES: SEARCH AND DESTROY

Take no prisoners! In the Search and Destroy mission it's about leaving nothing but mayhem and destruction. The attacking faction's goal is to destroy the Mission Objective with two strategically placed explosive charges. The goal for the defensive faction is to prevent you from doing so. Mind you, after taking control of the Mission Objective and planting both charges, the defending faction still has time to disarm the explosives, so make sure you stick around to ensure you successfully complete the mission.

"Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack," Sun Tzu once said. In Search and Destroy missions your Faction is faced with a difficult choice: Will you defend and stand your ground, or will you attack and go for destructive victory?

SCORING

  • Attacking Faction players get 3 Individual Points for placing an explosive charge that successfully detonates.
  • Defending Faction players killing enemies in a friendly Mission Area receive 1 Mission Point per kill on top of the point scored for killing an enemy.

The attacking Faction wins if they destroy the Mission Objective. The defending Faction wins if they prevent the attacking Faction from destroying the Mission Objective until the mission timer runs out. During Warzones, Factions play two rounds of the Mission, both as the attacking and defending side.

HUD INFORMATION
Keep a close eye on your HUD to check the status of the Mission Objective.

  • Neutral – Gray Color – Neither faction controls the Mission Objective.
  • Friendly – Green Color – Your faction controls the Mission Objective.
  • Enemy – Red Color – The enemy controls the Mission Objective.

GAME MODES: SEARCH AND RETRIEVE

Quick! The race is on to capture the Mission Objective and return it back to a specified location in one piece before the enemy gets his greedy hands on it. There's only one additional problem: you'll have to find the Mission Objective first! Successfully completing Search and Retrieve missions not only demands superior reconnaissance skills, but it also relies heavily on your ability to work as a team and protect the Mission Objective while transporting it back to your Faction's Return Area that is usually located in very hostile territory.

Sun Tzu once wrote: "Opportunities multiply as they are seized." Will you be the one to seize the opportunity and retrieve the Mission Objective safely?

SCORING

  • The player that returns a Mission Objective successfully is awarded 3 Individual Points.

Factions win by either returning the predetermined number of Mission Objectives or by having returned the most Mission Objectives when the mission timer runs out.

HUD INFORMATION

Keep a close eye on your HUD to check the status of the Mission Objective.

  • Neutral – Gray Color – Neither faction holds the Mission Objective.
  • Friendly – Green Color – Your faction holds the Mission Objective.
  • Enemy – Red Color – The enemy holds the Mission Objective.

For the Honor ranks, do you get to keep the ribbon as a display forever? Or only for the following week? Or does it even display?

Just so everyone is clear, all this info is from Killzone.com. In fact these are the very same articles that the beta tester got (some of the links still go to the beta site lol).

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Every week the stats get reset (for the weekly stats only, not overall). So it disappears after you've had it a week.
