Everyone:
I am among the players who have been beset by freezing and sound loss issues. This was, and will be the last, game I ever buy without first checking out other customers' reactions online.
I said last night that I'd give it a second chance, and I did. The game froze again, necessitating a hard reboot of my system. I will not risk damaging or destroying my PS3 because of this game. I will not waste any further time with the game, either. I have too much going on in my life to put up with a severely bugged game release. As I said earlier, it will be returned to the retailer I purchased it from, or will be sold to a pawn shop. Odds are, I will take a loss on my $60 purchase. Such is life.
While it's true that Quantic Dream and its associated partners in crime have my $60, they shall get no more from me. I will also recommend to *all* of my family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances to avoid the game altogether, or wait until it has been patched (in that case, they've got more patience than me). I've already taken the initial step of doing so via the "comment" bar in my PS3 profile. Rest assured, more will be forthcoming.
It's too bad, really. I followed the development of this game and was looking forward to a deep, immersive experience on (or exceeding) the one I had with "Dragon Age: Orgins" and other RPG-type games. Heh. After all, I'm a sucker for a good story. From the non-bugged glimpses I had of "Heavy Rain," it left me suitably impressed.
But, not enough to put up with its glaring flaws. Sony and Quantic Dream should be ashamed of themselves for shipping this title prematurely. Doing so has done far more damage than not to their reputations. But, then again, maybe they don't care. It's profit and deadlines first, customer relations second (and possibly third).

Im with you man, but you know i would give it a few more days to see if they can patch it.

**shrug** The longer I wait, the less likely I'll be able to recoup my "investment," so to speak.
But, really, I'm severely disappointed in how buggy this game has been for me. I own more than a dozen titles, and this by far has been the worst at launch. Oh, I'd have the occasional freeze issue with, say, the first "Uncharted" game and "Battlefield: Bad Company," but those were one, maybe two, in an entire playthrough. "Heavy Rain" has had a sound loss and multiple freeze issues, and I've just started playing the FBI agent. The latest freeze occurred right after (MINOR SPOILER ALERT) he found the dead cat on the railroad tracks.
I probably won't get around to getting rid of the game until Saturday or Sunday. So, maybe I'll change my mind if I hear some encouraging news between now and then. But, don't count on it. After all, we're mere consumers, gnats in the eyes of the corporations. Well, until we swarm and choke them to death.

Seeing as how the game came out less than two days ago(As of typing this), I seriously doubt they've even had much time to get on working out a patch.
And for thinking that ANY game is perfect, without ANY glitches at all, is just crazy talk. Uncharted 2 was Game Of The Universe and it was unfairly annoying to try and jump out of the way, only to have Drake jump behind a wall FACING the hoard of enemies I just tried to jump away from.
Going out and selling it before they have time to patch it is less than childish. "I've been following this game for years! It will be perfect! Amazing story! No glitches WHATSOEVER! I can't wait! Oh, it keeps freezing. Better sell it before they patch it!" Especially since not EVERYONE is having this issue(A lot of people, but apparently the majority of players don't have any problem with it).
Not to mention that anyone who has more than 60 points on their IQ can tell you that you could spend years beta-testing something, it'll still have problems.
For instance, look at Metal Gear Solid 4. The "Making Of disc" that came with it. There was a part where it showed a glitch in prorgress because they added something into the game. Something completely unrelated started glitching out. No matter how long you work on something, there will be glitches.
Since this is a pretty important thing, I'm sure QD will patch it ASAP, so put away the game for now and stop overreacting. I mean when my cable goes out I don't sue Insight because I'm paying for something I can't use.
EDIT: And I'm not insulting anyone. You can't tell someone's tone over the internet.

do u really think any body gives a CRAP if u don't like the game and want to take it back and hate on it for all of the world to see? Just go on about your business, and be done with it, I'm getting sick of the "I'm gonna trade this game" threads.... NOBODY CARES!!!!!
**ROTFLMFAO** You, kind sir, obviously cared enough to post a "I don't care what you do!" kind of post.

Unfortunately, these are not your vanilla kind of glitches. These are immersion- and game-busting errors that literally force you to hard reboot your PS3. And nowhere in my post did I say I expected a perfect game. Right now, I sure as hell wish the only glitches it had were vanilla and cosmetic in nature because, AS I POSTED, the glimpses I had of the storyline were quite enthralling.
