How does the Galactic Campaign work?
By playing Helldivers, every player in the world participates in a global meta campaign called the Galactic Campaign. Each time a player completes a planet their progress is uploaded and their contribution to the Galactic Campaign will be registered. From time to time, the enemy will try to counterattack, spawning events where you have to defend a city planet from invading enemies.
These events give double experience, and should the community fail to defend a planet, the region will be lost. The challenge of the campaign is dependent on the performance of the entire community in the previous campaign.
The Galactic Campaign takes player numbers into account when attack or defend events are created. The difficulty also scales to how well the players have been doing. If players win wars and events then the events get more difficult, and if the players lose then the events get easier - all to create a fair game where both outcomes are possible.
The players, Humanity, has been doing extremely well for a long time and so it has slowly been ramping up. Most of all wars have been won. Now that the game has been out for a year and there is a smaller player base, the campaign and events should scale by itself to match the players. We will of course also keep a close eye on it in case something needs a change.
Helldivers work together to defeat the enemies of Super Earth in a global meta-campaign called the Galactic Campaign. When a race is defeated it is locked out until all the other races are also liberated (defeated).
But don't worry! One all the races are defeated the Galactic Campaign resets and all three races become available to play once again after a day or two.
If you own the Helldivers game, but not the deluxe edition, there is a Mega Bundle in the PSN store which will give you all the DLCs in one big pack, saving some money.
You can also buy DLCs separately in smaller packs if you would only like to purchase one or two packs and not the full bundle. Check the store for the full list of options!
Helldivers DLC is sold as an entitlement, meaning that only the primary account which purchased the DLC is able to use it. HOWEVER, DLC can also be shared with other local players while in the same game or when the account holder who purchased it starts the game and is logged in (but not necessarily playing).
When purchasing the Helldivers DLC, please note that the regions of both the game and the DLC packs need to match in order to use it. For example, you will not be able to play if you have purchased the Asian DLC bundle and are playing with the European version of the game.
No! The beauty of Helldivers is that you can mix and match many different loadouts and we have designed the DLC especially to just be a fun variant rather than a necessity to play. It is definitely not pay to win!
However, most players do find it fun to have a wide variety of options and the Mega Bundle is highly recommended by the community. Here you can find some community written DLC guides
Is the game active? Is there a high population? Is matchmaking easy?
Yes it is! It is true the game has been out for a long time now, but on the forums players still report that they can always get a game, no matter the time of day or region.
Sometimes there may not be the exact difficulty which you want, but if you host your own game you will nearly always get players joining your game very quickly
You will always find some trolls or toxic people within a game, but on the whole the Helldivers community is one of the nicest and most helpful communities there are.
We have a lot of veteran players who are happy to take newbies under their wing and show them how to play or explain the best tactics. (There's a lot of written community guides for new beginners which are linked in this post)
No, it's a huge part of the game's design. It wouldn't be as fun or challenging without it!
Yes. It is designed this way to help enforce teamwork and cooperation. It will not be changed in the future as it is one of the other main mechanics of the game, just like FF.
Will Helldivers offer Cross-Play/Cross-Buy?
Yes, between PS4, PS3, VITA and PS TV, with full Cross-Save and Cross-Chat. Helldivers is also Cross-Buy. If you buy it for one platform it will automatically appear for download on the others.
Unfortunately PC players will not be able to play directly with their brothers-in-arms on the PlayStation systems, however, both PC and PlayStation players will contribute to the same Galactic Campaign.
This will not be possible, sorry!
Multiplayer and Online/Offline Combinations
Helldivers offers 4-player local and online co-op multiplayer, and any combination in between (except for the Vita which doesn't really support local co-op since it only has one controller). You can have two on the PS4, one on the PS3 and one on the PS VITA for example. PS4 remote play and PS4 sharing is enabled.
If played offline, mission progress will not contribute to the global Galactic Campaign.

First of all, many thanks for bringing this game to PSVita!
1 - We will have a demo to test?
2 - Cross-trophy?
3 - Gamesize? (especially for the Vita version...)
4 - Which is the frame-rate of all versions?
5 - Vita version will be native resolution?
6 - Any visual / technical / gameplay reductions or restrictions regarding Vita version?
7 - Map editor?
8 - Campaing duration ? (too important nowadays...)
9 - Any multiplayer deathmatch gametype of something like this?
10 - The game will be f****ng awesome? (Of course yes! )
Thanks a lot!
Will there be multiple difficulty settings? I was imagining an um, "super-ultra-hardcore" mode where the player wouldn't be able to see the input sequences for their special abilities, something like that.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR MARCH 3RD. OH MY HELL.
Something I am curious though id how the cross-platform will be done. PS3 users like myself cannot see PS4 users online. Will this be done in-game? Will there be certain servers for this? @Wingfrog
Hey guys just wondering what the size will be for the vita version? Even a rough guesstimate would be fine. The vita card prices are still higher than house loans so size can still be problematic for some of us.
