OK..i have seen threads in multiple places about both the digital and physical copy of GTAV causing freezes and crashes etc. and then others are having no issues at all..
this comes down to 2 things,it's either a BD problem or the more likely HDD.
many HDD's people are putting in their ps3's are 3GB/s when the PS3 uses 1.5GB/s,some drives will auto-negotiate and some don't and some that do don't do it very well but the good news is,is that many can be forced into 1.5 with a jumper.
i had just did a repair for a guy and he had the original HDD that came with it and guess what,it is a 3GB/s drive,so this tells me Sony has been using the wrong drives for a while but the drive did have a place for the jumper and fixed many issues he was having with several games.
next i removed my HDD and just for kicks i removed the jumper from mine that i put on it when i installed the drive but the HDD's usually don't come with one and then i loaded up GTAV and low and behold i kept getting lockyups and random freezes especially in cutscenes..
i put the jumper back on and the game plays flawless....
IF YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS CHECK YOUR HDD....
Just fixed another PS3 that was having lockups/freezes.
my friend has a slim PS3 with a original drive and it was also a 3GB/s drive and after i put a jumper in place to force it into 1.5GB/s all of his issues went away and the game plays flawless.
i am starting to see this as something that should be fixed by Sony,i have now did this to a couple consoles with factory drives not configured properly from the factory.
step 1) remove drive
step 2) place jumper on correct pins, this will be shown on the drive label.
step 3) replace drive.
you shouldn't have to buy anything, most people have these jumpers kicking around from other hard drives...... I think theyre worth less than a cent.
