[ Edited ]
9 replies 206 views Edited Mar 14, 2013

This is an attempt to provide the developers at Rockstar a more organized set of ideas for their upcoming installment of Grand Theft Auto.

Thread Topic: STORY MISSIONS

  1. MISSION IDEAS
    • Assassinations
      • Covert Assassinations
      • Overt Assassinations
      • Public Figure Assassinations
        • Such as having the option to silence one of the drab radio DJs you good folks hired over there at R* J

      • Beating up crooked politician Mission
      • Beating up cheater Mission

      • FBI Informant Mission
      • Local Police Informant Mission

    • Countdown Mission (have 2 minutes to do something)
  • Trails
    • Follow a cheating wife/husband mission
    • Trail a politician Mission
    • Trail a suspicious person Mission
    • Trail a rival gang member mission

  1. STRUCTURE

  • Button Sequence
    • Have missions which require on-screen responses (such as the read/response type missions in GTA:smileyfrustrated:A’s Car Dancing/Clubbing side Missions)

  • Decision Tree
    • Have Missions which allow the player to choose between different outcomes (with very tangible consequences)

  • Level of Difficulty
    • Gradually more difficult
    • One superbly difficult mission that requires great preparation, great timing, luck, and patience.

  • Linearity
    • Less Linear
    • Simultaneous Missions (where one mission is based on time and another is based on decisions). Or where one mission doesn’t start until 11pm, and the player can begin other missions in the meantime.

  • Mission Rewards
    • Money
    • Power
    • Respect
    • Sex Appeal

  • Multiple Objectives
    • Some missions with multiple objectives; certain objectives that can only be dared by very good players.

Overall Theme: Please increase the variety of missions for GTA V. (no one really wants to do 50 warehouse shootouts). Just the tried-&-true themes of car chases, damsels in distress, heists, appropriate shootout, escapes, and such would really increase the experience for us all. Even at the very least, if you guys just resurrected the missions from past titles this version of GTA would work well. All in all, no more IV, please. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, Keanu Reeves was NOT in Speed 2 : Cruise Control...Sandra Bullock was though. As for your ideas, although I agree that the game should be more diverse in terms of missions/side jobs, some, er...alot of your ideas just seem too far fetched...some of what you have listed we've actually done before, such as assassinations and whatnot. I do like a few of your ideas though, such as the espionage/trail missions, even though we've done THAT before too lol. I would like to see the hidden packages return, but revamped to be similar to the lock-boxes in Sleeping Dogs where you gain access to a certain item such as clothing, money, weapons, or maybe even the keys to a certain vehicle lol. If we have more than one safehouse, perhaps the clothes in the wardrobe could be different in each safehouse, or maybe when buying clothes, if you don't want to wear something you bought right away, the item(s) would be delivered to a safehouse of your choosing, meaning that if you have your original home, and another someplace else, then the item(s) would be sent to one place, but not the other. This would definitely be different lol.

You're referring to the triathalon races right? That's the only thing I can think of that involved foot races, such as the ones in the original SA...a foot race to the water followed by a foot race to a bicycle followed by a FOOT RACE lol. Yeah, I wouldn't mind those making a return, just as long as I don't have to wear a goofy chicken outfit LOL.

Thne ones in TBOGT were pretty decent too, though much easier. BTW, any1 that's having trouble with that mission where you do the tri-race for the firstt time (one of Mori's missions), the easiest way to tackle it is to just dive down to the water WITHOUT bothering to open your 'chute and try to land in the water right next to a boat (preferrably one of the faster ones) since Mori and the gang leap out of the heli a few seconds before you do...even though they got the jump on you, you'll reach the boats several seconds before they do.

Another idea:

WHITE COLLAR CRIMES

- Madoff ponzi schemes

- Football boosters

- Rigged government contracts

- Insurance fraud

RANDOM MISSION GENERATOR

Could you guys add a random mission generator that creates both small & large missions for the player to complete post-story?

This would sort of be like the random world events in RDR. Only this time, though, they will be deeper & longer.

2 MONTHS AWAY.

I hope these GTA V missions will be more varied & exciting than the ones in IV. Maybe even make them repeatable (post-story) with the use of our in-game phone (like in TBOGT).

30 Days left.

I really hope the Story Missions are intricate in the sense that you would know that there are several different ways to go about it. Such as having a decision tree with 3-4 very tangible outcomes. Or multiple objectives. And a rating system that you can judge yourself on. Then, possibly make some of the missions available post-story through the use of our in-game phone.
