Re: You think I could set up a wheel here?

My bad. I need some Korreck reading skills.

Folding stands can be a very good way to start with a wheel.

I am buying either a Wheelstand Pro or a  Fanatec RennSport Wheel Stand in November or so. At that time I will start using my G27 on my Racing Station exclusively, and will still keep my DFGT. I absolutely love my sled-style Racing Station, but also want a portable solution to be able to take to my brother or other friends' house to play as well. It would also be nice if I decide to race in the Living Room at home, and sit on the couch. For the price, I cannot build a similar  folding stand, or I would.

With your skills, you could make a folding / portable stand like the WheelStation Pro.

If you really want the best possible experience you could try to buy or build a full cockpit.  You still have several months before GT5 is released and mine took about 1 and 1/2 months to complete.  It is a lot of work, but really worth if if you really want the best experience.

Cant find it anymore but at one time there was a u-tube video of a guy who used a old weigh bench fitted with a recaro seat  for a simulator.Used the bar arms for a mount for his screen and bolted a crossmember with a plate so he could attach the wheel to,added a plate across the bottom for the peddles and looked to be a neat setup.I was going to try it but the lady of the house laughed and told me "Anything like that will be in the garage with your car.So i was shot down, now i use a old single draw file cabnet (without the file in place like a table) or the coffee table(being 6'5" that doesnt work for comfort though) so mostly its the file cabnet and a comfy chair.

If I played in that thing I would loose 10 pounds a night, that would be a major sweat box. Whenever I race with a wheel, I get hot and sweat a lot, no box for me, lol.

Mom can I have another quarter, pleeezzzzzzzz!!!!!

Yeah, it can get a little warm during the summer in there, so I removed the top temporarily.  Breaks the immersion a little, but allows air to circulate better.
