Re: The GT5 Car Wishlist

Here's the best response, directly from Porsche:

So you probably know that I wrote an e-mail to Porsche some time ago, asking why they don't appear in Gran Turismo 5. Much to my surprise, I actually received an answer today:

Porsche contact
Dear Mr. XXX

thank you for your e-mail from 19th of August and your encouragement about our commitment in the area of computer gaming, which we are happy to answer. Please excuse our belated response.

In general we concede with you
. But for about 10 years by now, there has been an exclusive cooperation in the area of entertainment software between Porsche and Electronic Arts. The, the prelude was the Porsche-only version of 'Need for Speed'. This cooperation still exists, and in the meantime, there has been a multitude of further mutual projects.

As for all of our cooperation partners, we are interested in a durable and good partnership. That involves meeting decisions which, from the outside, might not reveal themselves instantly, such as the decision to not be featured in 'Gran Turismo'.

We hope to have helped you with these short background informations and remain

with best regards
XXX XXX

The term of this agreement has never been revealed, as far as I know, so any expiry date I've ever seen has probably been just a guess. I really wish this could be cleared up, once and for all.

The statement also means that, if Porsche models are in other games, then companies had to fork over royalties to EA which SONY has chosen not to pay, for whatever reason (ethics, costs, whatever).

Cheers,

Hi guys... The BMW M1 on the list... Is that the original M1? If it is, I'd love to also see the M1 Hommage concept in too... Oh, and hi MastrGT!

Ok, i have beat every GT so far, and heres the only thing that irritates the hell out of me about the games.. You notice all the little daihtus (however its spelled) and cars like the suzuki cappucino or the little subaru thing that looks like a vw beetle? they have all these little japanese cars in the game that really dont mean anything to the game. heck alot of these cars would lose to my 94 Chevrolet Beretta Z26 Quad 4 5 speed that i got sitting in my garage. it has 180 hp. theres are cars in the game with 30-50 hp. why put those cars in the game? at least start putting cars like the cobalt ss or something american in it. the only game that came close to this was GT2 when they had all the american cars in it like the dodge avenger and stuff. but in GT4 there were countless numbers of useless cars in it. like why would you put a toyota prius in the game?? let alone the 1900 cars that be lucky to hit 15 mph that they had in it. my base model cobalt is like a corvette compared to the early 1900 "cars" they put in GT4. silly silly silly it is

edit- can someone please spell "Beretta" right on the first page under Chevrolet? it doesnt have two "r"s in it.

Nice rant.

Taking this nonlogic a little further you would end up with a game with just a handful of cars in it as the majority of the cars ever produced are too slow in comparison to that handful.  That's no fun.

Daihatsu is spelled correctly on the front page, btw.

Besides i remember some of those Daihatsu's were alright, the OPC is genius, the Copen is solid and in GT4 they had this Storia XX rally car that could really tear up some dirt.
