Quick question : Open Lobby

8 replies 246 views Edited Sep 4, 2012

When you get kicked from a open lobby what message do you receive?

Youve been disconnected from the server.

Or youve been booted or something like that?

I was in a open JDM lobby the other day so I see everyone driving a 97 Supra RZ.

So I go in my garage looking for the car and I get that message and then it returns me to the main page.

Does that mean I was booted or I just got disconnected.... They didnt even give me a chance to get in the car.

I've never been booted from a room, so I can't say what happens.

However, do you use VoIP or not? I find that using voice gets things done much more efficiently.

If you get booted, you get a message saying you have been 'rejected' from a room.

If you get disconnected, I believe you get a message that says you have been 'disconnected' or have 'lost connection' (can't remember off the top of my head which it is)

The easy way to find out, should the message confuse you, is that if kicked, you cannot rejoin the room, but if disconnected, you can (if there are still slots available).

Mastr Ill check today and see how I have it set up.

I do think it said something about Disconnected, So I never been kicked from a room before so I figured that would be the message.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Now I am starting to worry about my internet connection.Smiley

I think destinkeys is right, that if you're booted it says something different.

I was booted once when I stumbled into what seemed more like a private group's event...

VoIP is voice, so if you enter a room and can talk faster than you can type, then you probably can quickly talk yourself out of a sticky situation. I just don't remember if you use voice or not.

I could of sworn when you check your internet setting on the Setting (XMB) it shows that VoIP in there...

To be honest I have no idea what it is I just know I have seen it before.

I did hear ppl talking in that Lobby though.

If you are not talking, then you aren't using voice (VoIP).

All I am trying to suggest is that you may be able to alleviate being kicked from a room if you communicate differently.

If you don't have a mike (I don't use them) or you join a room that doesn't have the mikes allowed checkbox on, one of the best things to have is a USB keyboard attached to the PS3 (opr a wireless one if you want to get fancy).

Personally, I am not a big fan of listening to all and sundry blather on and on while I am trying to race, but quick communication at race end or pre-race is needed sometimes. Trying to enter text with a gamepad is an exercise in futility! You don't need anything fancy, in fact a cheap used one can often be got for peanuts, if not for free. USB keyboards haven't changed in years, and old ones from discarded PC's work just fine (as long as USB).

Highly recommended.
