Question regarding B-Spec drivers with lots of experience vs. those with not much xp

8 replies 251 views Edited Feb 28, 2013

Yesterday I finally got back into a bit of GT5 action - I was doing the B-Spec Nascar event (I have all golds except Daytona)...I used U2EDGE's tips regarding car setup - my guy was doing great for almost the entire race - I was in 1st place by the end of the first lap and stayed there until around lap 10 where I got passed by 6-7 cars...took me about 3-4 laps to get my spot back only to get passed by a bunch of cars just before turn 1 on the last lap...anyway, my question is - will a high-level driver with alot of xp fare much better than a high-level driver with not too much xp? I have a couple drivers that are currently level 37, but the majority of those levels were attained via remote races, which means their xp bars are not even to the halfway point yet (as is the case with ALL of my guys).

First, this is only my experience...

Normally I'd say yes, that is correct. But not necessarily when it comes to Daytona & similar tracks. I've run many b-spec races with all levels of drivers, at those types of tracks. While giving proper commands at the proper times is still "important", it seems that luck plays a very big role vs. "road course" type tracks.

Hope this helped to answer your question. :smileyhappy:

Yeah, I was assuming that a driver with more xp would probably fare better. I tried it with a level 29 guy  at default car settings other than tweaking the tranny a bit and I basically got owned, so then I tried it with a level 37 guy with the new settings and I owned THEM for most of the race on the 1st attempt with the new settings, then on the last lap, my guy seemed to peter out for whatever reason (probably my constant pace up commands lol) and he ended up getting passed by several cars just before turn 1...I ended up cancelling the race since I had no chance of re-gaining any ground, so I'm gonna try with my newly-acquired level 38 guy (after cashing him out) and see what happens.

Good news...I just beat 'em all at Daytona...WOOHOOOO! Now I gotta ask...since my overall B-Spec level is 40, which means I canno longer earn experience points for myself, will my drivers continue to gain xp for themselves or are their xp bars stuck where they are for good?

Your drivers will continue to gain experience until THEY reach level 40, I honestly believe.
They certainly do not stop because you reached that level. That I know.

Okay, but what about if they're already in the high 30s level wise? As I mentioned, none of my guys has an xp bar at the 50% mark yet...I'm lucky if any of them are at 25% lol What happens if he reaches level 40 before maxing out his xp bar?. Also, when I beat Daytona, I only did the individual race, since I already beat the championship (I ended up bailing out of Daytona but still managed to win the event). Will I get the trophy for getting all godls in all races (assuming I by some miracle manage to pull that off) even though I only ran this one race and got gold without having to re-run the entire championship from the start?

Exp will still go up after reaching L40, Strength will not. By not always winning will build both up before L40 is reached, 65-80% win ratio should be fine. Three L40 drivers with 95% Strength can will not win the 24hrs at La Mans, at least not for me. I have tried 3 different times, and they all tired out and did only 2 laps at that point before pitting. Each driver is unique, even at same Level, Exp, Strength and Mood. I have timed for drivers that appareled the same in all areas and had over 2 seconds difference in laps and almost 45 seconds total at the Indy 18 lap race.

I'm not that far from maxing out all 6 of my drivers' stats - they all look to be around 90% or better in all 3 categories (speed, mental strength, strength), so I'm not too worried about that - even if they reach level 40...it's the xp bars that are extremely low...guess I better start doing some more regular B-Specing and stay away from remote races for awhile lol.

My understanding is that this will count for all golds. I think everyone has trouble with Daytona.
