I'm sure some of you like painting your cars and so do I. I paint my cars all the time because it's somewhat fun and it brightens up my garage. Yet I get continuously frustrated from the fact that I can't preview the color on the car before spending a few thousand to paint it. No, instead of a full car preview we get our paint job previewed on this aerodynamic model of an automobile. Why is that? That's the big question! Why can't I see my premium Datsun R34 Skyline yellow before I paint it? I don't want a silly model, I want to see what the actual thing would look like! Listen up Polyphony!

Yeah, I agree. You can't get the full impact of the color on that tiny model.

I can't argue with the idea. It should be (essentially) no more difficult than the color swap for new cars right out of the dealership.

I have spent several paint chips on one car because of thinking the previous color would look good and it just ends up looking terrible and needing to be repainted. Not sure why there isn't some sort of preview myself
Would also be nice to beable to skip the washing the car and oil change animations and just be done instantly.

I couldn't believe there is no preview either. It makes no sense to leave that out, kinda like the lack of any control of the replay feature which makes the ability to take pictures almost useless.
Seems like the list of small things that should be common sense to include in the game never ends

The easiest solution to the problem is to back up your game save via USB stick, then go back into the game and color as many vehicles as you want to see what colors you like, and which one's you don't. Do this until you either run out of colors or money to paint the vehicles.
Make a note of the colors you liked and the vehicles they looked good on. Quit the game, delete your save, then re-load your previous save from the USB stick.
You got to check out all the colors you wanted to and didn't lose any paint chips or money in the process.
