Why is it that my cars start to lose power & need an oil change between 100 & 200 miles? I understand that the frequency between oil changes is much higher on race cars. But the vast majority of cars in GT5 are not race cars. I would also expect a race car to be able to complete the 24hr race w/o losing over 100 horse power sucking oil change requirement. I thought this game is supposed to be a driving simulator. I don't know of any cars that lose over a 100 horse power 300 miles after an oil change...

Well, I can only answer you by saying that I don't know of many regular irl cars that get driven at speeds well in excess of 80mph for the bulk of their lifespan or face the kinds of acceleration loading that they experience in this game. Drive em hard and maintenance goes up, or the engine goes down.
It would be interesting to see what the difference in the maintenance cycle is for 'regular' cars with and without major tuning shop upgrades. Maybe all the extras cause more strain?

i have never found myself lamenting the loss of a couple horses between races. I only change oild after several races or a really long race, just to be "nice" to my car, not because it's necessary...

I notice more then a few horses dissapear. At least in my fully tuned '97 Supra. After almost 200 miles I lost about 110 ponies... that's a bit extreme to attribute to just an oil change...

I fail to believe this.

that right there is a bald-faced lie. I have not seen this and I am a 29 a-spec. If anything, the engine break-in is making the HP go up, not down. I race my FGT for several 20 lap races and it only goes down a few HP.
