Maybe we would all be happier to just look at it this way.  They all have the same durability.  You pay more for extra grip.

I guess you could also sit there roasting the tires against the wall and time it to see how fast your hard tires wear out and how fast soft tires wear out.  They would still be rotating the same ammount of times and you could judge which if either wear out quicker.

BURNOUT RESULTS

Time it took for a tire to completely wear out at full throttle against a flat surface wall.

Forward

Hard - 7:10

Soft - 8:00

Reverse

Hard - 11:44

Soft - 12:20

So, from that.  Soft tires actually have more duability than hard tires.
