Daily Multiplier not resetting?

7 replies 288 views Edited Oct 31, 2012

My internet has been down for the past 2 days, and before that, I had 200% multiplier active. When I logged on today after my internet was recovered, and noticed that I still had 200%. If my understanding is correct, the multiplier resets to 110% after 1 day of inactivity, or is there something I'm missing?

Nope...the multiplier stays at 200% even with 1 day of inactivity. When it is 2 days of inactivity, it will drop accordingly, and so on, and so forth.

Ah, I see, oh, and I think my internet was down for 1 and a half days, not 2.

EDIT: Yeah, it was 1 1/2 days. cause it was half-way through Monday before my internet was lost. Hopped on to GT5 about 30 minutes or so ago.

Actually, while what NumSkuld said is more or less true, I think this is a better explanation..

the timer is set to the 12:00am or 00:00 hour.  If you log in any time within that East Coast 24hr time period (not sure if this is different for other time zones) then you get credit for logging in that day.

If you miss an entire 24hr period, then you lose one day of bonus and it drops to next lowest bonus level.  It takes many days to get it to drop back down to just 100% login bonus (or is it 110%?).

By "entire day" I mean that if you log in once at 7:00am today, and then dont' log in until 7:01am the next day, you have NOT missed a bonus because you logged in on both "days", even though technically they were more than 24hrs apart.  That's what I believe gives the impression that you can go two days before seeing a drop in your bonus.  But that's a misunderstanding.  Because so many of us play in the evening and cross over into a new 24hr period after midnight, we can go a full day (what seems like a full 24hr period to us) without playing and see the bonus stay the same.

Similarly, I can get credit for two 24hr periods by playing from 11:59pm through 12:00am and just turn off my machine.  However, I only played for 1 full minute.

Make sense?

You don't actually have to be racing at the midnight crossover (but good for you if your are), but just make sure you do something to trigger getting the daily bonus. First example, I think just going into the UCD and coming back to the main GT area is enough to do this.

yea if you leave your game running and don't exit out of GT5, then you need to do some activity that takes you out of the main GT Life menu and then returns you to that menu.  It then checks to see what login bonus you should have.

yea, racing isn't required, just loggin in, which means getting into GT5 at least once in the 24hr period, or if you're in it, doign something in it.

Now, what about I want to race for the 24 Hr endurance A-Spec or B-Spec race, and spread the event into 4 days?  Wouldn't that also drop my daily log in bonus?

Yes it does, an incentive not to stretch it out to long. I think I lost 5 days of login when I did mine.
