Anyone made a tuning guide?

17 replies 13 views Edited Nov 30, 2010

I know for gt3 and 4 people had made a pdf or whatever of cars they had tuned and what they had done to them. Anyone planning on doing the same here? If so would you take requests?

It tells you what everything means... But it doesnt say "hey stupid, use toe and camber!" Thats what I need... Pretty retarded when it comes to tuning.

AFAIK Apex (the CE book) doesn't give you tunes for specific cars, which is what the OP is looking for

I'm thinking of taking the handy dandy Forza III tuning calculator and tweaking it to work with GT5's driving physics.  The calculator was built for Forza Motorsport 2, but worked with 3 with a little tweaking here and there (because of the dramatic change in physics between Forza 2 and 3).  These setups were never anything world-dominating, but provided a good starting point and a little more stability than the default setups.

When I've made up something, I'll certainly post it for others to use...and most certainly improve on!

You are looking for something like GTvault.  Hopefully something develops because that site was a lifesaver in GT4.  If it does it will probably take a long time to develop and grow into something usable since there are so many cars.  A lot of the tunes there are way off the scale for what I think would work and common sence but most of them just flat ran circles around my cars.

How do you even tune your car? I cant figure it out in the race menu. You used to be able to do it before you started the race (changing gear ratios and whatnot). I cant find it anywhere, and id like to know how to do it before online races too.

I know a thing or two about setting up some cars, though GT5 is new and we'll see how the physics apply.  I'd love to try a car or two and see if you like it, but I'm only level 13 right now.  so couldnt be super pricey.

The thing about setups - there is no end-all be all guides.  There may be good suggestions on a solid setup, but in the end the fine tuning is driver preference.
