Question about "breaking in cars" ( might be in wrong forum section)

2 replies 114 views Edited Aug 27, 2012

everyone talks about breaking in cars, i thought it was just a thing people said to sound like real car owners, but now i realise that people say its to improve power? i know that oil changes give extra hp, but what and how does the "Breaking in" thing do?

Its only for new cars. As you drive a brand new car the HP will slightly increase until its fully broken in. I dont think ive completely broken in any cars since I tend to mostly drive standard cars. I wanna say Ive heard that it takes 200 miles to break in. Maybe someone who knows will chime in.

200 miles is the correct mileage for break-in, and remember, if you do a  "RM" to a car that has mileage, the car needs the break-in again.
