Re: Thoughts and concerns regarding E3 single player demo

Jun 7, 2012

Fresh: You like that particular finish that much?

GoldHawk: >weren't possible

Like what?

>i-frames

The draw animation has a small window of i-frames.  It only works if you don't touch (L) or attack.  Either of those will cancel the window early.  You should have practiced this early in the run.  Like other techniques I could have taught, this one came up too late in the run.

>Zeus air grab control

It isn't even close to 90%.  Also, the idea is to completely lock him as in the video shared.  I did share a video, yes?  I believe it would have been the one done by the gent.  It should have been t1 into air OS attempt (if not him dicking around with CG into air OS after the t1).  The idea is:

-t1 *bounce*

-air OS

-(he evades) Leap over the shockwave and immediately go for another t1 into air OS

-(he is grabbed) Do another t1 into air OS straight away.

The fight is pretty much on lock like this.  Not much to it.  It is only with the BoA (rather than the BoE) that difficulties arise because of certain inconsistencies.

>not many ring-outs in GoW1 and GoWII

I very much doubt you were aiming for them, am I right?

>GoWIII EXP

Not like you needed it at any rate.  lvl5 Blades and the deal is done.  The rest doesn't matter much.  Even still, EXP orbs are worth less than descriptors.  The best source for orbs would be repeat chests and item chests you've opened after getting MAX extensions.  Foes don't compare.

>just constantly attack

It takes away from the challenge.  GoW1 was infamous for allowing infinites with simple OH and air OS spam that ruined many foes.  GoWII had plenty of it.  GoWIII limited it greatly.  Just the same, GoWIII granted you a weapon designed with that very thing in mind (Nemesis Whips *a pro tool*).  Have you paid them proper mind yet?  The others can suffice for the role, but it is best for these air juggles you love so much.

NOTE: You have seen the combo videos I speak of, have you not?

>5 minutes of blocking

Quite the exaggeration.  In what fight are you finding yourself doing anything of the sort (read: turtling)?  Clearly you're entirely too uncomfortable with your foes to have any hope of just leaping into combo strings making sport of them on VH.  Not yet.  Perhaps in later runs.  Perhaps after some challenge runs.

You can insert the pictures directly if you click on the image at the top that looks like a little Camera.  It'll pop up with a window where you can insert info.

You really know your stuff.  I hope the team takes notice of your points, because this game deserves to have as flawless of a combat system as possible.

He does, but my worry is that SSM doesn't understand the slang used, or wants to read through his giant posts.

Fresh: >so far

I'm sure they can do better.  Something more tasteful than the Satyr Grunt headrip or Satyr Captain finish, I hope.  Just re-using the neck snap of Guardians/Sentries of the Fates would suit me just fine.  The quality of the kill cannot be comprimised on.  It is a very important part of selling the GoW experience, I dare say.

RAM: >gifs

You might try making a few from the other video coverages posted up thus far.

>know my stuff

I ought to given the time spent doing runs and speaking with my fellow vets.

GoldHawk: >slang

The jargon would be something to consider, but then...I've always been kind enough to explain, yes?

>walls

That is another matter entirely.  That they might be lazy is this regard is something I cannot help them with.

If they were looking for ideas at all, who would they really turn to?  They've clearly already got much on their plate as it is (life cycle, world weapons, mounts, collisions, MP, DLC, etc.).

What seems more useful would be those able to playtest...evaluate what they've got now.  But where to find proper vets?  Those like myself don't exactly hide away our thoughts.  Make available your product and it will get attention quickly enough.  A demo.  A beta.  Whatever works.  Most will happily provide a free service.  Not all though.  Some have grievances with changes made after demo impressions were given.

At any rate, I'll have to get on with the 'Temp Weapon' (Bayonetta flavor for GoWIII) coverage and then maybe work with the idea of how GoW:A has altered things (World Weapons) in another go at proposing such things.  I'll have to pick-up where I left off with the original post edits regarding many fields left bare.

Let us hope that mounted foes (by the player AND enemies) continue to exist, collisions follow the original rules, the expansion to the system from GoWIII wasn't cut (wall/object and agent/target cases), petrification is given proper attention and GoWII balancing, i-frames aren't nerfed to Hell, off-screen attacks aren't at all an issue, targeting is at least to the standard of the original, NG+ isn't denied, etc, etc.

Yeah, but when SSM is looking through posts for ideas and such, I don't think they have time to stop and ask "well what's BH, t, s, BoO, etc" and then come back hours later and read the response then have time to memorize it all.

Just sayin.

>don't have time to ask

Pity that.  But they've time for questions about making girl models, so I suppose they'll have to make time for more worthwhile ventures like hearing out a vet representative.  Having to explain things every step of the way would be simply terrible and slow me down further while making posts even more wordy.

Even if I did use the full names, not everything is named and I don't believe most of them will know those names anyway, so I would have to go on to explain what those moves indicate just the same.  That's a lot of unnecessary work until someone actually asks specifically (denoting they care enough to bother).

~I do not expect them to listen nor heed my warnings.  I expect them to do as they please.  I do this for me.

Re: Thoughts and concerns regarding E3 single player demo

This almost makes it sound like you know more about the combat system than the actual people making the game lol. Or at the very least exploited intricacies they may be unaware of through their own testing.  I myself am hoping for a more tier-based combat system, kinda like checks and balances they mentioned in MP for every enemy class and also weapons.  Grunts could be defeated with pretty much any weapon or attack while higher-tiered enemies would require more specific strategies/weapons.  Changing tactics from enemy to enemy would keep the combat from getting stale and repetitive, or spamming one weapon.
