I recently came apon a friend of mine being banned for 7 days due to language on the mics. I dont understand why this is because of the soul factor that the game is competitive. Ive heard more than my share of the smack talking. Regardless of playstations signed agreement which i have not found; i still find it ridiculous to sensor language on a rated M game that consistes of killing and maiming with all the blood and gore infused into the gameplay. it is also unfair to single out people when in reality they could have just been emotional from a previous match. whcih i remind is highly competitive. children do not play this game due to its rating. so i ask why is there a language sensor involved in god of war
whatever your friend was saying, another player must have reported them .... I think that's okay - I've heard some pretty harsh things said, racial slurs / homophobic hate speech .... guess you never know who might write it down & complain .... & btw, kids do play the game - I've had matches with children with mics .... 2 the other day, I left after 2 matches, they were playing terribly. but they were definetely kids.
This is a subject I tend not to touch...I view all explicit rants as childish unless they are done in jest. Too often do people treat each other with utter disrespect, using foul language to do so. I am as vulgar as anyone I've ever met but don't belittle or taunt people with my poor language while many MANY others do. Regardless of peoples' age, it's distasteful and adds a detriment to mine and everyone else's experience.
To each their own, I suppose, but cussing AT someone is different than cussing within their earshot. Perhaps that was the difference with your friend? It's becoming WAY too acceptable to fling insults and expletives in gaming. If this was the context your friend got banned, I am glad and I hope he learns from it. If not, then I'm sorry to hear it. Yes, it's a rated M game so taking part in its online play, it should be understood that foul language is going to happen. As long as it happens in the right context, I could care less, personally.
I don't think it's a coincidence that people have such disrespectful attitudes in gaming, hiding behind a mic, but I don't hear that kind of thing ever in real life. It's shameful. Just had to highlight my ire against those types of things. You wanna laugh and cuss WITH me? I'll gladly take part, and race you to the highest F-bomb count lol But cuss AT me? Insult me? I hope everyone who does this gets banned.
Sorry...bit of a side note. I find myself getting more and more passionately against this type of thing. Again, if your friend was just guilty of saying a few cuss words, I feel for him and am sorry to hear he got banned. But if he deserved it? 7 days is a blessing
There is absolutely no reason for people to be saying **bleep**, and other things as basic insults and trash talking in the game. Competition has nothing to do with being a piece of **bleep** human being.
Edit: removed inappropriate language
I thank you for your replies and i truly do understand. some things just shouldnt be said online. and of course when one is with a party of friends the rants and explicit conversations taking place could undoubtedly be really bad to others. and i agree there are children playing the game as well. i guess you could say for a die hard gamer who purchases alot of dlc i can see why anyone would think its ok to say what they want because they paid. i guess its all subjective
I honestly think its simply wrong ear heard the wrong thing at the wrong time. teams get together and talk about random things. explicit or not. yea things get out of hand but a warning could have been nice. hey youve been flagged for language. but its like BAM!!! LANGUAGE! UR BANNED! DIEEEEE!
I don't even know how to report a player for that and how that can be proven. It doesn't seem to have anything to with the game, but the behavior a player has while using Sony's network. There should be something about it on the user's agreement which no one ever reads.
