Port forwarding.

I recently tried port forwarding on my router to my 360. Are the ports the same on ps3 and if so, will they conflict with my xbox 360 at all. I might also mention that it seems as though port forwarding on my xbox makes my MW2 on ps3 nat turn to moderate any way to fix this.

Re: Port forwarding.

They use different ports. That being said, you won't get much help for the 360 here unless you go to the Off-Topic boards.

Re: Port forwarding.

Unfortunately, two devicess cannot share a port. You might have to manually toggle ports back and forth to both devices, or use the unreliable (I think) UPNP forwarding.

UPnP is hardly unreliable.

Re: Port forwarding.

Reliability of the UPNP is dependent of the router's implementation.

Case in point: My secondary stock Netcore 605GR hasa crap implementation of UPNP, while my DD-WRT'd Linksys works great and a TRENDNET with the D-Link firmware works ok.

Re: Port forwarding.

You could always chuck one of your consoles into the DMZ.

If your Router does UPnP properly, you could turn that on, and enable it on the PS3 and 360 and you wouldn't need to forward ports at all.

UPnP lets routers and devices communicate in such a way that ports can automatically be forwarded as needed. This is better because you don't have to manually enter ports for every game, and it won't normally conflict with other devices.
