PS3 - Hard disk's file system corrupted? please help

61 replies 53546 views Edited Nov 7, 2007

I turned on my PS3 this morning and I got an error message "the hard disk's file system is corrupted and will be restored"

If I restore I will lose all of my data right? has anyone else here had this problem?

Hey SeanoLeonhart,

Are they sending you out a brand new PS3 or is it gonna be a remanufactured one??
Mine's a 60gb and I was told its definately going to be remanufactured.. Nothing against sony but I really don't trust second hand machines, so is there any other way of fixing this problem?
Would buying a new hdd help?

Thanks.

Again another double post but feck it!!

I fixed my ps3!! All you need is a friend with a ps3!! Swap the hdd's and boot up your friends ps3, format the hdd, put it back in your ps3 and you may need to format it again.

After that though... Voila!! Sure beats getting a second hand ps3 IMO.

I'm glad that worked for you, but I tried to fix my friend's PS3 HDD that way in mine...it still gave an error every time he booted up his PS3.  At that point I stuck the PS3 HDD in my laptop, booted from a Windows CD and fully formatted it that way...stuck it back in his machine...used it to format....finally got his stuff going.  Took a little extra time but no problems since.
