If you put a Bluray game in his PS3 it does not appear under the Games menu, but if you load a demo or other HDD game, the Bluray game will then appear in the in-game XMB and you can load it from there. Bluray movies will still appear just fine in the normal XMB, as well as dvds, cds, and ps2 games. Has anyone had a problem similar to this? I'm stumped as to what could be causing such a strange problem. The PS3 in question is a launch 60gb unit.
different thread here-but again,the same happened to me.your friends blu-ray drive is starting to fail...
it happened on my launch 60 gb ps3 as well.i called sony about it,and the sony rep said-and i qoute-''blu-ray is not a perfected technology.its a matter of wear and tear.please send your ps3 to sony for a fix''
sorry,but its only a matter of time before your friends ps3 will no longer accept any blu-ray disc.

right,i understand.the trick i always used was logging in home,going to my xmb,and it would finally show up.i never heard of a firmware update doing this.instead of paying the 150 dollars,i just bought a 160 gb ps3.my advise to anyone is if your not playing a game or blu-ray-then eject it until you are ready to play it.
(my blu-ray drive got so bad no disc would show up,no matter what i did.not even a dvd.)
