Hello,
I know that my request it´s going to be out of the ordinary. I´m working in a research paper for my University about how trophies/achievements have influenced in gamers playing habits, from a scientifically and psychologically point of view. I´ve been studying different areas about this subject, but I have a technical question that I need to solve: How can Sony and the different game developer companies know which trophies have people obtained about a certain videogame? I know that, for example, Ubisoft can control this through UPlay, or Rockstar through Rockstar Social Club; but this requieres that the player has to register first. I suppose that every game developer company, as well as Sony, must have a way to follow how gamers are playing with their products through trophy achievements, for statistical purposes (how many people finished a game, for example) or for studying the results and make better games more adapted to gamers tastes.
So I would be very grateful if you could describe to me, for academical purposes, how Sony and game companies can make the follow up of the trophies achieved all over the world ina certain videogame.
I understand that this is not the typical request that you may be used to answer, but I would be very grateful if you could give me a detailed explanation, with all technical details, of this follow up process. Obviously, I will cite Playstation Knowledge Center as the source of this information in my work, so I think this could be a good way to show Sony transparency policy.
Thanks in advance for any light that you can shed on this subject.

Oh, that's an easy one: when a player syncs their trophies, Sony gathers that data and shares it with developers ![]()
