Okay, quick question to anyone here on the sight, or any of our friends at sony that might beable to answer this, and verify my question. I receved a message from my friend, this is the exact message line for line
"i8ph-cibd-rk2h put the code playstation carde store and you will get $50.00. but you will need to send it to all of your friends.iswear i just type this in the code dose work it is ps3's 4th birthday and for all sony and psn users to celebrate. we are offering $40 on the psn store to everyone who spreads the good news to all their friends (including the one sentyou this message)once you do this an alert message will come up on your screen and it will tell you a unique code"
Now me being the courious tech I am tested the code. By all intensive perpouses the redeem code in the message appears valid. When entered it brings you to the screen asking if you want to add $50.00 to your wallet, but I'm courious as to if the code actually originated from sony, or if it's by chance someone using a randomizer to create 50$ PSN Redeem codes. Anyone got any ideas if it's sony getting hacked again? or if it actually started off as a promo, and someone down the line just changed the original text of the message?
Well I wasn't asking about the dates, obviously who ever went ahead, and made the message was pretty stupiud. Only reason I was asking was because of the code. That code is what has me confused because by all intensive perpouses it worked. The question is not if it's actually their birthday, but if they got hacked again or something along those lines
I think that it is fake because of the typo *sentyou* I think if playstation network wanted to give away free codes it would be in that little thingy thing at the top right hand cornner of the screen
Any PSN private message saying enter this code and/or send to all your friends is spam.
PSN do send out XMB messages over PSN, but they have a special icon to the left of the username in the title. And it's always the same. Sometimes you do get a promo PM's saying there is a promo in the PS Store itself though.
See the PSN logo? That's official. Now if you go on PlayStation Home, some users did get invites to Beta invites to the new design of Home from the Community Managers of Home itself.
