I am glad to see such a meeningful convo going on here... I agree with Philly, I did do the Beta and relized when no one on their site answered my question about posting Glitch videos to help them that the people at DC really don't give a Shit about the little People... its all about the money. Also Just want to note that DCUO is not an Exclusive and SONY has no control over what the company does... yet in a situation like this Sony Should have said you can not use our platform. I honestly like SONYs old values, and they are slowly losing them, I hope it reverts soon... they were the little guys and made a great impact on gaming, and I think they are on top now... even though Microsoft has many fan boys... (think the fan boys are due to the fact that the system is cheaper... cause Microsoft is a very corrupt corporation, which is why I do not play Xbox.)
Back to what I was saying... DCU was a great idea, and I did not buy it mostly because it is a pay monthly or 200 for a life time... The disk being so much already should have covered costs. I do have to admit that the Character Customization was really good, and also the maps were nice, yet there were not many of the maps in the Beta, and I found at least 6 glitches that I could have reported if the company cared enough to answer me back... Yet they did not, and when the game came out... I deleted all my footage... I will also not be getting the game... this is a sad ending for me because I am a huge comic fan, and have been most of my life, I actually have a few Stitched into my hoodie, I have a huge Batman Logo on the Hood of my Hoodie. I might just be one fan, yet I was not only willing to help fix problems they missed in alpha test, yet willing to play the game... they lost me... and if they are not careful, how many more will they lose... also the sales are off the charts now, yet when the cost gets to be old and the newness wears off where will they be then?
Also you say that people in the industry want a part of this profit, yet if they are not careful and to many make games like this the spread of how many people actually subscribe is going to go down... people have a budget, people have lives... and these kinda games take lots of money and lots of time... not for the average gamer... only for the insanely die hard ones...

Exactly what values are Sony leaving at the door? Sony is a company. Companies exist to make money. DCUO is a game designed to make money for both Sony and WB.
Is there anything unethical or immoral about that?
Not when it's printed on the front of the box that the game is online only and requires additional recurring subscription fees. It's not a hidden secret that the game has a monthly fee. Anyone buying the game should know that up front and THEY and they alone make the choice to buy the game and pay the monthly fee. Sony even gives you the first 30 days for free. So you have a month to play the game and decide if you like it before the fees actually kick in.
MMO fans who also own consoles have been asking for a good console MMO for years and now they may finally have one. It's not going to appeal to everyone, but many will enjoy it. I heard that it's SOE's fastest selling game to date and that the PS3 version has sold better than the PC version.
If you can't afford it or just can't justify the expense, well we can't have everything. I'd like a ferrari, but just don't have the funds to get it. However I'm not gonna hate on Ferrari because they make an expensive product I can't afford. Some can and it's just good business.
I see your point... and yes they need to make money, yet like you say, the stores can not keep this game stocked, so it is having no problems making money, so why not make it a bit more affordable? Just a thought, and another note... SONY was the Underdog, they were not in the Console race until another company Stabbed them in the back... they need to remember where they came from as well as remember the fans that got them there the past 15 years... as for the Update that someone mentioned... good I am glad they are getting something for the money that they are spending... I would Love to Play the Game, and the main reason I am not is due to price yet also due to the fact that I got no response on trying to help with glitches, and also the fact that MMOs take time and dedication that I am not willing to spend on just one game at this time to make the 200 a life time or 15 bucks a month worth it. If it was under 100 a lifetime or 5 bucks a month I might reconsider, as well as them taking feedback on the mistakes in programing that they made... PS I LOVE BATMAN... HES ONE OF MY HEROS lol Thats one Man who never forgot where he came from no matter how much money he made... YOU GO MR. BRUCE WYANE, a HEART to MATCH HIS Wallet!

OMZ you are so Right... I thought that DC was working with a Third Party company on this one, Yet I was so Wrong... SONY is making this one... NOW I am Very MAD... they had all control over pricing and such... they can not push the crap off on anyone else... its all them this time....

I have always heard PS3 has free online gaming, guess you never heard that.
The PSN is free. DCUO which you can access through the PSN is not. Hey, MMO's aren't for everybody. You can still play all your other games for free. Just leave the MMO's to those of us who have enough disposable income to enjoy them.
