Sony has said that in order to play games online on PS4 you need to have PS Plus. Sadly the problem is that sub accounts can't use PS Plus. So does that mean all those people are restricted? I have read other forums about people who are even over 18 and their sub account never "upgraded" to a master account. They are over 18 and yet they won't be able to play PS4 online.
Sure they can all create a new account but the problem is that some of them have invested a lot of time, years maybe, and don't want to lose everything. I have friends who are loyal customers to Sony and when the PS3 came out they got it right away and were truthful about their age, them being under 18 at the time. Now they too see that they won't be able to play PS4 online. Some are not going to buy PS4 and get Xbox One, while others will still get PS4 but will have a bitter taste for Sony. Is this how Sony will treat it's customers?
Has Sony even considered this? Are they going to change anything? Maybe they can remove this "master-sub account system". I don't see the use of it. Maybe they can keep it but allow sub accounts to upgrade once the user has turned 17 or 18. Maybe they can just allow PS Plus to be available for everyone to subscribe. Sony wants to beat Microsoft right? Well cutting these people off by stabbing them in the back and not allowing them to play online is not the way?
Pleas Sony, don't cut off your customers. There are people out there who love what you do. They want to have that PlayStation experience on the next-gen. Something has to be done.

If the master account (or any other account) on the system has Plus all other accounts on the system will be able to play online.http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation
I personally would start with a new PSN ID on the PS4 since the PS3 games wont work so games saves a trophoies will not matter
but if you stuck on keeping that ID than like ne1 said only the master account needs plus for all other accounts on the console to play online
I think your over reacting with that long rant
well i agree with you cannon i made my account when under 18 now im over 18 and have had the same psn id for years but i dont want to change it and now im basically gonan be forced to change it just so i can make a master account on ps4 so unfair
Sony Please fix this. Me & my brother both got PS4s & we both have had sub accounts since the PS3 release because our dad set up his account & then ours as subs. We are now both 23 & both living in different states. Please either make sub accounts updgradable or i don't know (sarcasm) since the whole thing is so kids under 18 don't use it, make it available when the age of the sub account owner is over 18, it's not like most kids under 18 just make a master account & change the age anyway. It's super annoying having to change accounts just to download the ps plus exclusives on an acoount I had to create just so I can play PS+ on my account that I have had for years. This is terrible foresight on Sony's part, requiring playstation plus to play online while some people can't access playstation plus even though they're over 18 & happened to do the responsible thing back when the PS3 came out & are now having to jump through hoops to play online.
This was almost 3 years ago. ALso sub-maccount cna now be graduated to master, something that was not possible back in 2013.

This is still an issue tho. I have had a PS account for eons. I recently got the PS4 and made a sub account for my son so that he could play online with our family and friends and there be no issue with them knowing which one of us is actually online to play with. I set up his account with no game or age restrictions, it lets him use the store, camera and chat. Yet when he went to play a game i got him it comes back "Error: can not play due to age restrictions". Yet I also have his account set to allow all USRB ratings to be played. So why can't he play online? I contacted customer service and they say that I cant even delete his sub account to create another. That is just crazy to not allow us to delete an account. There are countelss frustrated parents and kids on forums complaing after it is too late to try and fix this. Is there somewhere we can put in a complaint so that PS will consider fixing this for everyone???
