I was wondering, if you download a free game on playstation plus, like borderlands for example, and buy the dlc, can you keep the game even after your playstation plus membership runs out?

Welcome to the PlayStation Community.

No, the game, any game actually is only available to you while your subscription is still current.

Anything you purchase from PS Plus, be it discounted, half price or for only $1 is yours to keep for ever, as are Avatars & Themes.

Wait..so youre saying if I spend money to purchase a PS+ that any game I purchase on the PSN via plus discount, that I can only use the game on my console if I continue shelling out money to keep my PS+ active ?

In other words Im only renting the game and its not mines to keep and play on my HDD ?

What he`s saying is, any free game you get on Plus you can only play while you are in a plus subscription. If you purchase a game that has been discounted by plus, it`s yours to keep forever.

No, you asked about "free games", that was why i responded the way I did.

Free games are yours to play so long as you remain a subscriber only, anything you pay for is yours for ever.

No.  If you let your Playstation Plus subscription expire, then the game will no longer run.  However, the DLC that you paid for is still yours.  It is useless without the game obviously, but if you buy Borderlands later, either on disk, or in the Playstation Store, then you will be able to download and use the DLC that you purchased with your PS Plus discount. You won't have to buy the DLC again.
