Generally no. Sony does not accept most debit cards. You may be able to use a debit card that is connected to a bank checking account, depending on how the bank processes Visa and Mastercard transactions with the card. Prepaid cards of any kind are not accepted, because they don't provide evidence of where you reside.
I have always used my debit card, no problem at all.
Contact Sony via phone and ask them for help.

Your debit card must have either a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it for it to be used as a credit card. If it has those you can use it.
I would recommend that once you do start the trial that you go to subscriptions and remove the auto-renewal for PS+ which is turned on by default and also remove the Debit card information.
