We're on a forum discussing our opinions on a particular game and genre overall. Now you're labeling it as "whining" why? Because we have an opinion different than your own? Yes we realize change happens. But change isn't always necessarily for the better.
And when did I have an opinion of XI or XII in this thread? I'm just pointing out you people are just complaining about two games only.

Oh, you mean changes from the very first Final Fantasy to FFIX? Those changes? Those changes that improve the game that stemmed from a proven foundational formula that's stayed the same? That foundation of a logical battle system that catered to its core fanbase of turned-based thought provoking choice and reaction that centered around the characters? And I do not include FFX since it still deviated from the, for example, relative "freedom" players had with a world map from the original to the ninth installment. So it's been nine years since FFIX was released. Just two games or not, the timespan for such a lack of RPG's such as FFIX has been long over due with the exception of the Persona series. But the charm of what made Final Fantasy what it is has been lost for nearly a decade.

the gameplay was good but it was too much of a pop star environment. It felt like some times I was playing through an RPG made for Brittney Spears. The special ending ruined the end of X because sometimes you just got to accept death.
im praying that XIII wont be as bad as the games square enix has come out with so far...the last good FF title i payed was X.

1. There's been more than 2 Final Fantasy games released since IX. Yes, they're spin-offs but still Final Fantasy games.
2. The theme of my original post applies to more than just Final Fantasy games - it's about Square-Enix games and the RPG genre as a whole.
3. I don't get why you're on here complaining about our "complaints"? It's one thing to share you're opinion, maybe on why you think to the contrary...

So are you afraid of letting go of the past or what? That's what I'm reading from your post.
X still has freedom, only reason the overworld maps of I-IX looked like that because of the capacity of the CD and cartridge, it's not like they block you from the areas you've previously been at.
And the reason of lack or RPG's is that the stories and the graphics take a long time to make unlike in the PS, SNES and NES FFswhere the graphics are simple to make.

no for real though the final fantasy series did turn to **** after FF9, except for FF11 which was great, but i personally dont count it as part of the main series even though it is, FFX kind of sucked but was okay, FF12 sucked ass, and FF13 will too, and yes i know it isnt out yet, and yes i can read the future and i know i wont like it, it sucks
Nothing wrong with FFXI, but it should have been labeled something like "Final Fantasy Online," similar to what Sega did with Phantasy Star. FFXI is a different genre what would normally not target the FF audience. It's almost like making a game with the "Tekken" label and characters but making it a turned based adventure. I think Squaresoft labeled the online version of Final Fantasy as FFXI to make the more core FF fan buy the game so there would not be a gap between FFX and FFXII. A marketing ploy.

Nope. It's also the long lapse of time we've seen a quality RPG like ones once made by the former Squaresoft.

If I'm so afraid of letting go of the past, why is FFVIII my second favorite FF where it's not fantasy based like the original, there are no treasure chest to find items, and you draw magic from your environment and the creatures you fight? Just because I was able to logicly and reasonably support my opinion doesn't mean you have to find excuses for your uncalled rudeness.
Piss poor excuse since the PStwo also has 3 FF's like the NES, SNES, PSone. Sadly, the PStwo versions didn't live up the the previous versions by carrying on what was great about the series while also making improvements. All those consoles have become progressively more advanced while SquareEnix has maintained 3 FF titles per console. So the quantity is there of 3 FF's on the PStwo, just not the quality and/or core style that makes Final Fantasy Final Fantasy. The PS3 has been out for 2.5 years now. When was FFXIII suppose to come out???

Alright, then tell me what you don't like from X or XII.
Then why did you say there was a lack or RPGs?
